Click to enlarge…  That is USS MISSOURI to the left of NIMITZ.

Wanted to share this short note and photo from the CO of USS NIMITZ.  She is returning to her homeport in Everett WA after what will be an 8.5 month deployment, mostly to the Middle East but she was held on station as a show of force/possible response unit for the Syrian “standoff” shall we call it…

“Moored, Shift Colors. Aloha, Hawaii. It’s wonderful to be back in the States! Looking forward to our Tigers arriving and enjoying the beauty of this place. Still, it’s a humbling experience to look out over the flight deck and see the USS Arizona Memorial and know that 72 years ago this week they sacrificed all their tomorrows so that we may have ours.”

RIP L.B. and L.C. we’re tryin…

December 7th… — 9 Comments

  1. The Army went on full USAEUR alert every Dec 7th while I was there. We need to remember this date always. First, to honor those who died or were wounded. Second, as a reminder we must always be vigilant! (USS Cole, Marine Barracks Beruit, 9/11, Bengahzi, etc.)

  2. I cry – unashamedly – each time I visit Pearl. We’ll be there again in March, taking the VIP tour of Arizona, Missouri, Schofield Barracks, etc. But the greatest and most humbling aspect is getting to meet survivors, outside the bookstore.

    We dare not forget!

  3. My buddy Nate Weiser turned 97 on the second.
He survived Pearl, Normandy and Bastogne.
I hope he survives another Michigan winter.

  4. ADM- That it is…

    LL- So true.

    Rev- You’re right!

Ed- Thoughts and prayers that he makes it!

    Rick- Thanks!

  5. I saw very little in our local news outlets. I am afraid that we are forgetting or purposely ignoring our history. Sorry state of our country.

  6. I’ve never been to Pearl, but I’m sure I’d do the same as Rev. Paul….cry my eyes out….
