Ya know those ‘cheep’ spam cans of 5.45X39 ammo???

Well, you can kiss it goodbye…

Because some asshat just ‘had’ to build a 5.45×39  ak pistols to sell, so the surplus steel core is now classified as “armor-piercing handgun ammunition” and can’t be imported thanks to some f***stick with no regard for the rest of the gun-owning community.

Therefore 1080 round tins for $160 are now a thing of the past.  commercial ammo is available but 2-3x the price

I’ve now ‘heard’ some asshat company wants to do the same for 7.62x54R, y’all are screwed…

The Bangswitch.com has the info HERE.

SOooo… There will now be a run on 7.62×54 in three… two…

  1. Damnation, a whole lot of people who switched to this platform are going to be a bit angry hearing this news. The person or firm responsible for this should have learned a lesson from the 1990’s Chinese 7.62 ammunition ban – SHOULDA LEFT THAT ONE UNBUILT!

As the Red Queen said in Alice in Wonderland – OFF WITH HIS HEAD!

  2. This isn’t even new. This stuff goes way back to the days of Thompson Center making .30-06 and .308 “pistols” and getting those AP rounds banned. We’ve all seen this before several times, and for this latest manufacturer to do it again is beyond thoughtless and irresponsible–it’s enough to make me think that they did it on purpose specifically to wipe out the import of this cheap ammo for whatever reason.

  3. And if you are still ‘Down Under’ you will pay hell finding any ammo. Hurry back, if you are not already here, and get your armory resupplied.

  4. Well, all my passion for a 5.45mm upper just evaporated. Next thing you know, I won’t be able to feed my Mosin-Nagant.

  5. As I recall, it was Olympic Arms who did the same thing back in the 1990’s with their 7.62 X 39 pistol.

  6. Please let this be an April Fool’s Day joke.

Although I really can’t see anyone making a 7.62x54R pistol. The recoil would be too painful.

      • My mind rebels at the thought of the Obrez. Why would any sane person make such a thing?

No, I reject your reality and substitute my own! 😉

        • Vodka.

          And half-load rounds.

          Also crime.

Something about it being much easier to get ahold of rifles than pistols after the War.

  7. Jim,

I reserve my anger towards the asshats in our government that made the decision to ban importation of this ammo–beginning with the f’sticks in ATF and then cross-decking to POTUS and like the turd he is, it all oozes downhill.

Someone was trying to be an entrepreneur–something we used to celebrate in this nation. The government managed a nice hat trick out of it:

    1. Kill the project.

    2. Enact a new/modified ban.

    3. Increase yet more panic buying/consternation from the gun community.

If the entrepreneur had instead tried to modify/develop a new automobile than ran on little pop-up wind turbine, the very same government would get yet another hat trick out of it:

    1. Hold a press conference and exult the person as an example of “American ingenuity” and then immediately claim job growth.

    2. Redirect tons of tax dollars towards the guy, whether he asked for it or not, then use that as justification to raise our taxes on fossil fuels.

    3. When the project ultimately fails, they would blame it on Bush.

It MUST be a blue moon because that is about how often I ever find myself even remotely disagreeing with you. But in this case, again, my ire is directed solely where it needs to be: Our f’d up government.

    Regards,

    –AOA

  8. Murph- True…

CP- Orders are in, delivery dates??? unknown… sigh

.45ACP+P- Luckily, I’ve never gone down THAT particular rat hole…

    RHT- Shhhh….

    Erin- nope not a joke…

AOA- Understood. And I can’t disagree with your points!

  9. Your response is misplaced. It is not the responsibility of the person making the pistol. This falls to the people making the decisions in the gov’t, no one else.
