All the guys says is. “the crow has never seen them in this order.” He doesn’t say he hasn’t done all these stages in the order before, or that the crow has never done these before.
I see this as a reach out for funding.
As to your hits being down, I was traveling. LOL
Trained crow or not, that’s pretty impressive.
We have lots of ravens here; they’re into everything. The only locks they haven’t gotten around are the bear-proof trash cans.
You checked the trash cans recently?
That bird’s not so smart! I could solve that puzzle in, like, half that time.
If he was so smart, he’d be out of the cage by now.
+ 1 Ed
he has done the exercise a few times, which makes me amazed at the memory skills they posess.
Magpies are nearly as smart.
+1 on Ed. 🙂
Agree with Danny. An animal can be trained in a sequence of behavior. The bird needs some intelligence to solve the problem of each step, but chaining it all together is down to training.
All- Thanks for the comments.

Here is a clip from a show I watched back in the 1990’s, showing a raven fishing. 🙂
Robert- Interesting… and they ARE smart!
Some birds are extremely intelligent, but not to the point they can avoid crapping in their water bowl and suffering ill effects from the polluted water.
Jess- Good point… There is intelligent and then there’s smart… 🙂
And ravens are reputedly even smarter than crows.
My immediate answer is “A trained crow!”
