Oopsie…

One last comment on Bergdahl…
This is what happens at the end of wars,” President Barack Obama said Tuesday when he was asked
about swapping American Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban terrorists.
“That was true for George Washington, that was true for Abraham Lincoln, that was true for FDR.
That’s been true of every combat situation, that at some point, you make sure that you try to get your folks back.  And that’s the right thing to do.”
While that sounds good, let’s check our historical facts.  His reference was to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and FDR – and their actions, as president, when wars ended.

·       The Revolutionary War ended in 1783 and Washington did not become president until 1789.
·       Lincoln was assassinated in mid-April, 1865 and the war didn’t end until May, the month following.
·       As for FDR, he died of a stroke before the end of WWII.

So there you have it, none of these presidents were in office at the ends of those wars, making it impossible for them to make any prisoner swaps “at the end of wars”.
So much for our historically illiterate president.  You would think that someone on his staff would keep him from making these foolish blunders, but speaking half truths and telling whole lies has become his pattern of speechwhen it comes to the American public.

Maybe his staff doesn’t know any better either . . .
And one other question-  WHY is a 2-star General running an article 32 hearing???  I never saw that in 22 years…
Usually, it was the Battalion Commnader or CO that ran an Article 32…
Also, rumor has it this was already done in 2009, and the documents were classified…  WTF???
And now Bergdahl has a high priced lawyer???

  1. You expect accuracy and facts from him? He will say anything to make himself look good, and truth and facts be dammed. Also, with George W era, men like the five Taliban would have been hung; with Abe, they would probably have died in Andersonville, and with FDR,they would have been shot by the men who captured them before they got to pow camp.

  2. I believe some troops were paroled in both the Revolutionary and Civil wars.
I doubt any of them were considered deserters by their own forces.
I doubt the commander and chief ever held a press conference to announce the parole.

  3. In terms of FDR and Lincholn, maybe Obama is prophetic? Can we hope?

    • If it wasn’t for having the 1st Buffoon taking over, I would agree with you. That thought put new light on “Watch what you wish for, you might get it (or worse).”

  4. Tim- Yeah, sigh…

CP- ALL correct (at least from the history ‘I’ was taught in school)…

    Gerry- Good point!

    .45ACP- LOL

    CP- Yeah…

  5. As if we expected better of him. He’s willfully ignorant of true history because it doesn’t fit the Cloward-Piven strategy.

  6. “WHY is a 2-star General running an article 32 hearing???”

Because they are running scared. Like a kid making his own fireworks, the whole Bergdahl thing blew up in their face.

“Also, rumor has it this was already done in 2009, and the documents were classified…”

wouldn’t surprise me. Wonder what else they have “in the can”. Two star’s job is to provide enough juice to insure the proper political outcome.

  7. That would leave a mark if the media would report it or any of the pigs at Obama’s trough cared. (Most of them are as anti-military as he is.)

  8. Rev- GREAT point!

RHT- Probably, especially if the 2-star drank the koolaid…

    Ed- TRue!

    Murph- Agreed!
