Texas Ranger’s Museum…

Made a low pass yesterday by the Texas Ranger’s Museum in Waco on my way to my next stop.

If you go, take a bib… You’ll need it to keep from drooling over all the historic guns in there!!!

The Texas Rangers statue out front.

This one is a real Walker Colt- With provenance… that is $1M sitting there in one beat up old 4.5lb pistol…DSC01351Tommy guns were a ‘favorite’ weapon for the Rangers… Who knows how many they actually carried/used, but a few are in the museum. This one was carried by two generations of the Purvis family as Texas Rangers.DSC01356Bonnie and Clyde… nuff said…DSC01365And it IS Texas…DSC01371If you ever get the chance, it’s WELL worth a stop to see the museum!!!

Texas Ranger’s Museum… — 13 Comments

  1. I’d hope that somewhere in there is a BAR and a Remington Model 8 in .35 Remington…

  2. Wow, obviously a cool place to visit and just as obviously not as stuffy as many museums.

Tam linked to a UK paper article with the headline “U2 singer ‘extremely lucky’ after plane’s tailgate becomes detached during flight to Berlin”. I’m fairly familiar with Learjets, but I’ve never noticed one with a “tailgate”. A custom “Texas” model, perhaps?

  3. Drooling. My department had a Tommy gun until something happened in the last 5 years and they had to turn it over to one of those agencies. For a museum piece or something, I guess. I can’t remember. It was a big deal and made us all sad. We liked to drool at it. LOL

  4. That looks like a really cool museum. I would have been all over the Bonnie and Clyde shot gun.
Are you going over the the San Jacinto Battle ground and battleship? that is pretty neat too.

  5. ADM- It was!

Ed- Yep, that’s what I said MULTIPLE times!!!

    SPE- Yep… 😀

    drjim- It was!

GR6- LOL, there is an aft baggage door… Look for used Bono underwear on Ebay in the next week or so…

    Tim- NOW you tell me!

Fargo- Hopefully it made it to a museum! They are a blast to shoot!

JUGM- It is! Didn’t make it that far south this trip!

  6. If ever in College Station, TX, the Corps of Cadets center on the Texas A&M campus houses the Metzger Sanders gun collection. Free, fun to see, and not many people know about it.
