So I come home to find a nice little box in the mail…
I wonder it could be, then remembered a conversation I’d had with John Shirley about his ‘new’ knife that he had developed and worked to get picked up by Spyderco…
Yep! That’s what was in the box. That’s a quarter to show relative size.
And a close up of the bare blade. John designed this knife with Sam Olsen as a ‘always ready knife’, one that could be carried all the time, even in the showers to protect the folks downrange.
At a little over 2 oz, it’s almost not even noticeable on it’s neck chain, and is designed to be grippable even if your hands are wet and/or soapy. For a little knife, it’s got a lot of blade, and well pointed for either stabbing or slicing as needed. From my conversation with John, he’s given quite a few of these or the prototypes to the ladies he served with downrange. More power to him!!!
This one will get added to the go to collection, especially if I’m in a situation where I can’t CCW.
Thank you for your persistence John, this is truly a quality product, and you done good my friend!
Sweet little knife. The design reminds me of the Schrade (Old Timer) Sharpfinger, just in a smaller package. I can see that it would be useful for a variety of cutting tasks.
I know I’m showing my ignorance (I do it all the time), but how do you get a contoured blade out of the contour molded sheath that appears riveted closed around it?
Too cool!
Nice stabby-slicey!
VERY Cool!

Very nice indeed. Just added to my “want” list.
Another have to have!
I think I will just leave a note in my will that reads: “to understand why there is no money in here please see Old NFO’s blog”
Very nice idea. Till the first time you try to get through TSA wearing it…
Paw- it IS a sharp little sucker…
Ed- It’s a straight pull out. The Kydex is molded around the knife and has enough ‘play’ to allow you to draw it.
WSF/NC/Gfa/Murph- Yep!
Dammit- It’s a nice little neck knife. I wore it all day today and never noticed the weight at all!
WN- Yeah, gotta remember to take it off… sigh…
Nice! But am I showing my age if talking about knives and showers makes me think of “Psycho”?
Cool knife, Spydercos makes good stuff. I just picked up a Spyderco Spur folder last week, its a small pocket folder. My personal go-to necker is the Cold Steel Bird and Trout for game cleaning ‘body cavity’ work. I often forget I have it on.
PH- LOL…
j.r.- Nice!
Very nice. I’ll have to put that on the ol’ want list.
Nice knife. What was the tariff, pray tell?
BZ
Aaron- You won’t regret it.
BZ- I ‘donated’ $100 to John for it. 🙂
Neat knife. Neat story about its development. Already own about five Spyderco knives, but there’s always room for one more.
Sweet 🙂
