And if one actually studies the FBI crime stats, there IS a proven decrease in violent crimes against people and murders when CCW is put in place…

And some facts from the Lott/Whitley/Riley paper…
- The number of concealed handgun permits is increasing at an ever- increasing rate. Over the past year, 1.7 million additional new permits have been issued – a 15.4% increase in just one single year. This is the largest ever single-year increase in the number of concealed handgun permits.
- 5.2% of the total adult population has a permit.
- Five states now have more than 10% of their adult population withconcealed handgun permits.
- In ten states, a permit is no longer required to carry in all or virtually all of the state. This is a major reason why legal carrying handguns is growing somuch faster than the number of permits.
- Since 2007, permits for women has increased by 270% and for men by 156%.
- Some evidence suggests that permit holding by minorities is increasing more than twice as fast as for whites.
- Between 2007 and 2014, murder rates have fallen from 5.6 to 4.2 (preliminary estimates) per 100,000. This represents a 25% drop in the murder rate at the same time that the percentage of the adult population with permits soared by 178%. Overall violent crime also fell by 25 percent over that period of time.

Wonder if this is in Chicago? I remember the chief of police of Detroit saying “he was fine with legal carry in Detroit, that it helps to deter crime.”
Would be fun to see what the figures are for Democratic cities like Chicago, Baltimore, etc…

No spin, they’ll ignore and do everything to bury the story and if it is mentioned, they will just kill the interview unless it is live. Then they’ll just change the subject really quick.
Its good news to me, the evidence seems to indicate that people have decided to become pro-active and watch their ‘six’ themselves, rather then depending on the LE community to do that. The street officers I’m sure are happy to see it – their police commissioners (especially in the Big City) are sad pandas.
Well, I’ve glanced at the report, and one should remember that this shows the number of CHPs issued by the Individual States. But I know for a fact that (as least as far as Ohio is concerned) that there are a LOT more Firearms out and about in Buckeyeland than are represented in this report.
Why? Well, for several years, Ohio has had Open Carry, Castle Doctrine, Lenient Firearms Transport in Vehicles (think of the Rifle Rack in a Pickup), STATE Preemption, ZERO Home Ownership Laws (i.e., no “Disassembled Firearms in the Home Crap” like D.C has), Carry in Bars Allowed (just don’t get caught Drinking), AND as of a few months ago, 100% RECIPROCITY with ANY States CHPs!
I did see a recent Stat that claims one out of 5 Ohio Homes had some sort of Firearm in them. Personally, I think it’s more like 40%.
Of course, we have the Usual “Gun Free Zones” Bullshit Laws, but they mostly match the Federales Dictates, so it’s pretty much a wash.
Too Bad our Goobernor is too busy running for President to order the Ohio National Guard to Arm Up, but Active Duty Military stationed in Ohio CAN get their CHPs VERY Easily, even if they’re from a VolksRepublik.
Now if only the rest of the Republic had Ohio Laws…..
I predict that they’ll say nothing, because liberal media types have learned that the power to ignore a story that doesn’t fit their agenda is easier and more convenient–and just as effective–as having the power to refute that story.
