House pictures…

I was asked what the rooms looked like, so a couple of pics…

The den is now livable, and ready for guests… 🙂

Den 3

The fireplace is off to the left, and it works!

And a longer shot of the dining room.

Yes, there are two dining room tables… The closer one is actually an old Sunday School table out of a little church in Louisiana my family is connected with. It’s over 100 years old. The back table is one I bought with the house, so I can at least seat 8 people! So far, I’ve had 7 folks around the two, and it does work… Kinda…

But I’m not giving up the two tables.

The next ‘big’ task is sorting out the garage. And trying to find out exactly how many sets of tools I have… Sigh…

It’s the bane of having effectively two households, geographically separated, and not being able to find (insert tool here). So you go buy one. And need one at the other place, and go buy one…

And the same goes for gun cleaning stuff… But that I’ll use up (eventually)!

  1. You’ll have to have a garage sale of all the surplus tools. At least we’ll be down in a couple of weeks, and be able to get all of our stuff out of your garage!

  2. Looks very nice.

We did pass on some of our tools that were surplus to needs to our friends that farm. It helped us and they appreciated it.

A partial solution for tools has been tool cabinets with tool boxes on top. A lot of cabinets and boxes. (when you open too many drawers at one time, you will not like what happens. and no, there will be no photos)

In my imaginary future house, the three car garage with a lift has gotten a lot of thought. But so has the shop complex. And when we have the pool put in, (assuming I have the same wife) we will have the machinery dig a long trench, 100 yards would be about right, and line it either with a large diameter drain tile, yes of course, the ballistic arc will be figured out, or framed like a mine tunnel.

OK, I’m back from the happy place in my mind.

  3. Peter- Your stuff isn’t the issue! It’s all ‘my’ crap I still need to sort through…

LL- Thanks! You are more than welcome.

John- LOL, heard ALL that… Just put good ventilation in!

  4. That den looks very inviting, and very close to something I’d decorate for myself. Not bad at all!

  5. That looks great! You have some nice pieces and great memories. Love your paint color. Now you just need a dog. 🙂

  6. Wow! You’ve done a lot and it certainly look great. I sure could use you eye when I get to NC. Like your choice for furnishings and wall art.

  7. By the way, I may be a day or so late on this but you got some love from Brigid over at the “…Range”.

  8. I’ve accumulated a plethora of excess hand tools over the years.
The one advantage of that I can see is that every vehicle has a tool kit, I’ve got a tool kit at work, home repair tool kit, and a couple of Home Depot five gallon buckets full of spares.

The spares are handy for missing or damaged tool replacement and future barter if need be.

  9. I went through the same “two sets of tools” before I moved in here; one set at the apartment, and another here at the girlfriends.

    And STILL I can’t find things….

  10. Fargo- Maybe in the spring… 🙂

SoCal- I take no credit for the placement of the art! That was the girl’s doing! Re Brigid, yeah we go back a few years! 🙂

    Rick- At least…LOL

SPE- I’ve already ‘donated’ some things to others for truck kits, and I’ve got one in the truck, another sitting on the floor, and one on the bench… sigh

drjim- Lemme know what you’re missing… I probably have it 🙂

  11. Glad I’m not the only one who has a .45 in their den…nice! And congrats on the move-always a hassle, but (usually!) worth it. Hope you’ve found a good (Bible-believing-and-preaching) church nearby!

  12. Very nice photos.

Re the extra tools…can you pass the extras down to grandkids? Build them their own beginning tool boxes maybe?
Bet your extras are of better quality then what can be bought today…

  13. Nice! Looks very comfy and the fact that you have art on the walls already is impressive.

The answer to how many sets of tools you have is “all of them.” Plus spares.

  14. OT
Just wanted to let you know that as soon as I sent that email today, I checked the mail and the package with the extra had arrived.
Now that’s what I call fast, heh, heh. As quick as I can get the time the box of colt food will be on its way to you with my version of the extra in it.
    Thanks
    DBD

  15. I have two sets of tools too, metric and SAE! I bought a couple Gladiator rolling boxes to put hand-tools like sockets and box/open wrenches (torque wrench) into, and with drawers to swallow the bigger DeWalt stuff and yard-work things.
Like the Corsair! The den looks lice and cozy, and you can always slide a 1911 down between the side and the cushions in those big chairs, I do anyhow!

  16. Hey Old NFO;
Very nice setup and btw like the Roaring Corsair pic you have in the living room. You can tell that your house has a dude’s perspective.
