Whew…

PPP and Jace are back home, and I’m sure Vito is in dog heaven about now…

But, as with most boys, regardless of age, he’s enamoured by trains. Sadly, we didn’t read the fine print, and found out the little museum was only open on Saturday. Needless to say he was disappointed…

But he was having thoughts…Jace 4 25 16 2

If I climb up here, and turn sideways… And nobody’s paying attention, I’ll bet I can slip through the bars…

But that didn’t happen… So yesterday morning he got a Mickey Mouse pancake from the nice folks at the cafe, and he was happy with that.Jace 4 26 16

Thankfully, they got out of here before the bad weather hit. And frankly, we were very lucky! This is a catspaw, basically a precursor to a tornado, that tried to form over us late in the afternoon. It was one of five or six that we watched, but none of them got fully formed, or made it to the ground. We had one good gust of wind, probably around 60 mph, a little bit of light hail, and about fifteen minutes of rain. That was it.catspaw 4 26 16

But I would ask that you keep the folks in the Central US in your prayers, I know their weather was MUCH worse than what we had. I don’t know the total count of tornadoes last night, but I know there were some.

  1. If travel puts the young train buff in the Lancaster PA area, a ride on the Strasburg Railroad steam train, a visit to the PA Railroad Museum, and a visit to a large train layout at the Choo Choo barn are all close to each other. And an overnight stay in a real railroad caboose in also nearby. (insert usual disclaimers that I do not profit from any of these places)

And I know this retired squid who would be a great local tour guide.

More seriously, does the new house include a provision for tornado sheltering?

  2. Ima thinking that he should have gone though or under that fence. I might even have encouraged him had I been there, which is one of the reasons that I make a lousy babysitter.

And that weather is on it’s way here today. Joy, joy.

  3. They’ve been to the train museum in Sacramento, haven’t they?

  4. Sorry y’all missed the trains. We had a micro-burst, or downdraft, or something which destroyed the neighbor’s Bartlett Pear tree last night. It’s lying across Mom’s garden & grapevines, this morning. Lots and lots of heavy, pelting rain overnight, too, but no tornados in the news.

  5. John- I didn’t know that, but will keep it in mind for the future! Re tornado shelter, I’m working on that, and the next door neighbor offered to share his.

Murph- LOL, you would… Stay safe!

LL- Yes, we did that in January.

Rev- Glad y’all made it okay!

  6. It was a great visit watching the two interact. Jace didn’t want his Papa out of his sight. Jace has so many traits of his Papa it was awesome to see them side by side. As always the visits are too short but many more to come. Woke up to Jace in my bed and Vito in the toddler bed! I think he was very happy to have his kid home!

  7. Last summer we raced for home in St. Clair Shores in MI with granddaughter in car and clear horizontal, pre-tornado circulation in the clouds to our north as they pounded in. Scary enough as it is, but double scary with grandbaby with you.

  8. PPP- All I can say is payback is sweet! 😛

PH- Yep, glad I got them out of town ahead of time, although Jace would have been out there with me watching it! LOL

  9. Dawwwww. (Jackie’s remarks) I envy you your family, sir. Looks like a good time was had by all.

  10. The most beautiful steam locomotive ever produced, the Norfolk and Western J class, lives in Roanoke VA at the Virginia Transportation Museum. It is back in steam and making excursions through the Blue Ridge Mountains this summer.
