Run Fred Run….

Well it looks like it is “semi”- official that Fred Thompson will run in ’08. I for one am glad to hear it…

Fred Thompson is plain spoken, is a friend of the “little people” like us, and is a conservative who I believe will work to bring the two sides together. I also believe Fred Thompson is a principled individual who will do all in his power to do what is right for the Nation as a whole, not just the good ol boys and the beauracrats. He has seen the glitter and the glamour, both of DC and Hollyweird and I don’t think he is impressed with either one.

We have had enough divisiveness, lies and finger pointing… These last six years are the worst I can remember in my 55 years on this ol‘ rock. It is time to bring the USA back to one Nation under God, with ALL of the Amendments fully fuctional, not just the ones the liberals, ACLU and media want.

Maybe folks need a little refresher… Here are the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence for your reading pleasure.

I would ask each of you that read this, regardless of who your candidate is… VOTE!

  1. I have a question for you Sir, based on a hypothetical situation that is stirring in my head.

    Let’s say that Newt Gingrich emerges as a viable candidate. As “viable,” I mean that he somehow becomes less polarized and shows the possibility of winning the general election. Do you take him over Fred Thompson in the primary?

    Does Gingrich’s proven right-wing doctrine overpower the fact that he may be part of the very bureaucracy that Thompson so positively seems to be separate from?

  2. Steve, I would not take Newt over Fred Thompson. I do not believe Newt can divest himself of the baggage of his past to allow him to be viable in this atmosphere. I hate to say that, because I believe he did a number of good things for the USA during his time in the House. I think Newt’s doctrinal issues are part and parcel of his problem, in that he has almost become a characiture… Thanks for posing the question though, you raised a good point!

    I just wanted to pose the question because, lately, Mr. Gingrich has seemed more politically mature. He seems to be finding the value of not being so decidedly to one end of the political spectrum.

    I agree with you, though. He has made a rough bed and now he has to sleep in it. And, because of it, his political aspirations are probably shot.

    It’s a shame. I really like where he stands. He would do America good and that is all that matters in the end.

  4. Steve, I just don’t think he can recover… At least not this time around. One hopes whomever we end up with will do what is right for the country.
