This is where I spent many a day and night… 7700 hours over 19 years. Brings back a lot of memories, good friends, different locations and DEFINITELY not a 9-5 job. Bravo Zulu!

Next to the Super Connie, The P-3 is one of the most beautiful planes ever put in the air. Brings back a lot of memories. Just read a story yesterday about the P-8 taking over soon. It’s got 23% more deck space, that ought to make a little more snoozin’ room! Not so good is the loss of some weapons carrying ability. But I guess when the P-8 is gone, it will be all UAV’s! Boo Hoo!
Since I know absolutely nothing about planes, I’ll just say this: KEWL!
I live about a half an hour from an air base and I’ve seen many different types of planes overhead…the Orion being one of them (well, I’ve seen big planes with propellers).
🙂
AGREED Ev… I loved the Connie too!
RT- If the base is Willow Grove, those are P-3s. And friends of mine are still flying them :-0
McGuire. However, I am in a flight path that might include traffic from both.
After 9/11, I really learned the different sounds of the planes that the military uses, especially how different they sound from commercial flights. (Totally off-topic, I know.)
hehehe- RT, you know you are good when you can tell what aircraft it is just by listening, and not even have to look up…
