Freeze Tag Meme…

RT tagged me with this Freeze Tag meme.

The meme requires the receiver to talk about himself/herself. Oh joy…

Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six people with a link.

Six non-important things (and whatnot) about me:
1. Since 1970 I have not lived in the same place for longer than three years.

2. I have what is called Aviators Loop hearing loss, so I can’t hear high pitched female voices (comes in handy some times…)

3. I read between 150 and 200 books a year.

4. I enjoy driving long (1000+ mile) distances; to me it’s relaxing. Of course, I grew up driving across Texas as a kid, so I think nothing of driving 200 miles to have dinner…

5. I like cooking Cajun food.

6. Before I tore up my hands/broke fingers badly playing sports, I was an excellent piano player (I actually played both piano and organ for Church and in a few local concerts).

I’ll tag whomever wants to play…

  1. umm, should 2. be “can” or “can’t”? and yes, I’ll play … see my blog …

  2. I like long drives, too. (as long as work isn’t involved). I like to see how different other places are compared to where I live. Makes me happy.

  3. Julie- Thanks anyway 🙂 And that was a good post!

RT- I’ve made 6 cross country drives while in the Navy, one of these days I’m gonna do it for fun (e.g. take more than three days…)

  4. I’ve moved alot… but have found it more and more difficult as I get older. Seem to be hanging out in one place a bit longer now. I love to drive too. I’ve had wander lust for years, hence the moving around thing I guess. Do you play piano at all anymore? A favorite composer? What kind of books do you read? (that’s ALOT of books in one year!)

  5. FF- I haven’t played in over 30 years… My fingers just don’t work right, and I’m NOT going to frustrate myself… sigh…
Composers- Well anything Jazz. As far as reading, pretty much anything. Right now, I’m reading Orson Scott Card, Vince Flynn, Balducci, Lone Survivor, Reagan Diaries, and a couple of westerns. I also like Clancy, WEB Griffin, and some military histories. Caleb Carr for Civil War, John Jakes for revolutionary era, etc.

  6. The last book I read was Vince Flynn – Transfer of Power… what a story! I have so much training material to weed through that it makes it difficult to find the time to read the “good stuff”! The most recent non fiction I’ve read was The Nazi Connection to Islamic Terrorism by Chuck Morse. Very interesting and thought provoking. I feel bad that you can’t play the piano anymore.. for me is a great stress reliever… I never was all that good at it, but every once in awhile it’s nice to bang out a tune by Bach or half of a Beatles song… LOL!

  7. You and I have 2, 3, and 4 in common. As for books, I read more than 200 in a year. I can knock one off in a few hours if it’s well written. Textbooks, however, take more time.

I played piano and trombone for years, helped pay my way through college playing a trombone in a jazzband. Now, I’ve arthritis in my hands and I gave my trombone to a youngster who is now better than I ever was.

    Do you have tinnitis, too?
