A credible threat???

I snuck home for the weekend, and managed to grab lunch today with a friend in law enforcement in East Texas. We were discussing the DHS memo and out of the blue he told me something that really concerned me-

I don’t have any independent confirmation of this, and it’s second hand, but I believe its possible…

It was that the folks from ICE had been tasked to conduct surveillence Tea Parties held on Apr 15, using available security cameras, still and video, and undercover officers in the crowd. It was not only to monitor the speakers, but the crowds and assess who the “specific” leaders were.

He did not know how widespread this was; but in thinking about it, since most of the Tea Parties were held at court houses, state houses, etc. There definitely are security camera systems available, and video from upper floors would have been unnoticed in the general hubbub of people taking pictures…

Not local LEOs, not state LEOs, ICE… Since the change over, ICE now works for DHS. When you think about the memo, the “reaction” of the MSM, and the “lack” of reaction from the Administration it’s enough to make one wonder…

Oh yeah, one other thing- There are numerous ICE agents working the Southern parts of the US… Gee…um… two plus two equals…

Now the other thing is the Lightbringer supposedly backing off on the AWB, stating, “there was not enough support in Congress.” Does anyone else believe this is just a delaying tactic until the Dems can strong arm enough votes to push it through?

That’s the direction I’m leaning, this assault on 2A is NOT over…

And via Crucis, THIS guest editorial (called Resistance is Futile) from David Codreas website The War on Guns, which talks to that issue.

And a little “humor” … Kinda reminds me about the comments a few years ago about paper hats and $9000 communications systems at McDonald’s…

Recently, when I went to McDonald’s I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.

“We don’t have half dozen nuggets” said the teenager at the counter.

“You don’t?” I replied.

“We only have six, nine, or twelve” came the reply.

“So I can’t order a half dozen nuggets but I can order six?”

“That’s right.”

I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets.

Sigh… Y’all have a good weekend!

A credible threat??? — 17 Comments

  1. The kind of people who will hurt you,are scared people, and the type of actions you are talking about, are from scared people. and the arrogance and fear shown toward the citizens who chose to retain their rights and dare to stand apart from the rabid, adoring worshipers, certainly instill fear in ego-maniacs.They just built a new Golden Arches,in a small town not far from us,I refer to it as the “New Rawandan Embassy”,you literally need an interpreter to place an order,so the math on the nuggets, does not surprise.

  2. I wonder why they don’t have half a dozen mcnuggets there…

Just Kidding! Haha! Sounds like we need to volunteer our time to teach a few employees basic math terms.

  3. Thanks for the link.

There were several photogs and a woman with an audio recorder each doing interviews at our Tea Party in KC. The woman was asking a man next to us some questions (I couldn’t hear the question) and the man’s companion reacted to something the woman said and told her to shutup and leave. As she departed, the man’s companion called the woman something derogatory. The woman wasn’t in sympathy with the attendees apparently.

There was a news helo circling overhead throughout the gathering. Don’t know what they were doing but no video appeared on the nightly news from any TV station.

It does make one a bit suspicious!

  4. The only person at the one I attended that appeared unusual was a guy recording the audio for a local NPR outlet. He had on a KPCC (Pasadena Community College radio) hat, and was constantly looking around. He’d check the recorder slung over his shoulder, but he was constantly looking around with a stern expression on his face. Kinda gave me the creeps because he didn’t look like an audio engineer or college student. I’ve done a lot of audio/video work during my career in Electronics, and this guy looked totally out-of-place.

  5. #1. I would have to agree with you that the assault on 2A is not over. It will never be over and will require constant vigilance. There have always been and will always be assaults on freedom. Those who would take our rights are sly, these assaults have come from all sides and from people we would not expect. We must protect the right to defend our lives and property just as we must forever stand by *all* of our enumerated rights.

#2. When I offered the little girl at Whataburger a ten and six pennies to pay for a $9.06 bill, she replied, “I already rang it up, and it says I have to give you 94 cents change.” She followed up by saying, “I was never good at math.” When I told her that $9.06 from $10.06 equaled a dollar, she replied, “If you say so.”

#3. Why does it surprise you at all that *any* organized protest was surveilled? The Feds have been watching, snapping photos and shooting video, of every protest since Viet Nam. Let me reference an interesting quote from a news article: “It’s clear that this administration has engaged every possible agency, from the Pentagon to N.S.A. to the F.B.I., to engage in spying on Americans. You look at these documents and you think, wow, we have really returned to the days of J. Edgar Hoover.”

But of course that was in 2005, and the person was commenting on the release of 2,200 pages of FBI documents showing that various federal agencies, by authority of the Patriot Act, had surveilled a group protesting logging in Colorado, a gathering of vegans in California, a group of east coast Catholic work group, and several other interesting targets.

Having great respect for you, NFO, please understand that I don’t want to start a ruckus on your blog. I’ll only comment to say that if you (or any of your commenters) supported Bush and the Patriot Act, and if the rumors you report of ICE surveillance of the TEA parties prove to be true … then you are reaping that which you have sown. Please refer to my comments in #1.

  6. Elm- It’s that NEW math… sigh 🙂

Crucis- it was a pleasure! And agreed on the suspicious too…

    Drjim- Yep, that is interesting…

Mule Breath- No issues- I happen to agree with you. And yeah, ALL the kids are bad at math 🙁

  7. If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck it must be a duck. (the duck shit all over the sidewalk is a dead give away)

  8. The New Orleans area protest was held at the Veterans’ Memorial, located in front of Lakeside mall. On the roof of the mall’s new parking garage were about a dozen or so cops on the roof. (The gun belts really stand out when they’re silhouetted against the sky) Most were in uniform, but several were in mufti with gun belts. One of the ones in mufti was taking pics of the crowd with a ginormous telephoto lens. A few others were watching with binoculars. I’m sure pics of the Ferret armoured car flying the Gadsen flag and the 1st Naval Jack flying from the radio aerials which someone brought will be on the cover of the next report detailing how dangerous us tax protesters are.

  9. KLR- Point! 🙂

    Fuzzy- Me neither… sigh…

Cyber- Understood, and yeah, bet that Ferret will get LOTS of press… all negative!

  10. What I’m finding odd in this thread of comments is the paranoia. Everyone involved seems to acknowledge that there was surveillance, but all seem also to find it suspect.

Maybe I’m being dense, but I don’t understand.

Back in the 60’s and early 70’s I remember seeing the anti-war protester smiling and waving at the cameras. I don’t remember anyone talking big brother. Maybe I missed it.

    However, I did read Orwell’s 1984.

  11. Speaking for no one but myself, I was equally suspect when it was Bill Clinton trying to get the banks to rat their customers out under the “Know Your Customer” act as I was Bush’s Patriot Act, as I am now of BHO.

I’d have been similiarly suspect of the first Bush except that I was in college when he was in office and therefore FAR more interested in chasing tail and drinking beer… 😉

  12. MB- It was there… I remember 68 and the police in Chicago using pictures from the convention to hunt down and arrest people.

Jay- I have never minded OPEN surveillance and accountability, what I dislike is it going into a data base for later use against us. Back in the 60’s/70’s most of the protesters were already well known to LE- Matter of fact, I remember being told by a Deputy Sheriff that I needed to stay away from some folks when I came back home on leave, as they had gone “down a bad road”… 3 of 4 later ended up in prison.

  13. NFO, I may have been one of those you were told to avoid. But my group of bad boy friends produced a Deputy Sheriff, a small town police chief, two paramedics (I’m one of those), one Army veteran who survived Nam and retired after 31-years, and two who came home from Nam in boxes.

Just because we were bad guys back then does not mean we did not posess the capability of learning better.

  14. MB, I doubt it, these were REALLY bad boys… We didn’t do too bad either. 2 came home in a box, 4 of us did careers in the military, 4 career LEOs, 1 judge and two doctors. Oh yeah, and 1 slimy lawyer 🙂
