How in the Hell…

Do you lose ONE SOCK in the middle of a trip???

Sigh…

It’s not on my foot, not in the dirty clothes bag, not in the suitcase, and it wasn’t left in the room…

Damn Sock Fairy got me again…

/Grumble Now I have to go wash socks in the sink, which means they will STILL be wet tomorrow, and I’ll be squishing around all day…

On a brighter note, this is the sole picture I took the entire weekend at the NE Blog Shoot; I have to agree with Weer’d, shooting and talking (okay BSing) are more fun than taking pictures…

Jay, trying the SCAR, too bad I didn’t get his expression AFTER he shot it πŸ™‚

And you have to go to Ed’s Blog HERE and watch the video… We need to force EVERY asshole in DC to sit and watch this till they get it.

In other news, I had a bit of extra time this afternoon, so was going to run by and get the stitches out; only to find out they wanted $90 to do it. Screw that… Β Nail clippers and tweezers and they’re gone…

Now if I can just get the sumbitch to bend it will all be good…

  1. I too, took stiches out of my lip with nail clippers and tweezers. (Damn things were coming out anyway, I’d thought I’d help them along.)As long as you dump boatloads of antiseptic on it before and after, you’ll be fine. =D

  2. North- I know… sigh…

    Pissed- Probably

WSF- Don’t EVEN get me started on that… sigh…

    MM- Does Scotch count? πŸ™‚

  3. If you ever find that sock fairy, I really need that argyle grey and black one back.
Nice job on stitch removal, you can play hockey now!

  4. Had a lot of stitches in my life. Never had a doc take out any, even when I was a little kid. Seemed a waste of time going back for something I could do myself.

Pissed my mom off a lot, way back when.

Last time I ‘should’ have had stitches, I steri-stripped the wound together and taped it up. Saved even more time that way.

I’ve gotten older now… and try a little harder to avoid doing things I have to get a doc to fix.

  5. I lost a sock in Alaska – turns out the sheltie I was staying with has found it, and now and then his owners catch him curled up on the couch with it. I’m not sure if he misses me, or he’d emblazon it “my best walker and treat source disappeared, and all I got was this sock”.

Now, as to how the heck I lost it when I triple-checked everything before leaving, I dunno either. The Sock Fairy’s a sneaky one. Been tempted to sneak out and buy a 6-pack of socks when too many start not having mates.

Take care of the skin on that thumb – it’ll stretch, but you may want to keep it clean, and apply a little lotion to help encourage it to stay flexible while working on the bending. Scar tissue, left to stiffen, doesn’t stretch too well.

  6. Socks have a will of their own, The sock fairy is an enabler.

Looks like you had a great time.

Stitches come out better at home when you are alone.

Maybe this will earn you a new call sign? Like maybe Thumb Flayer, One Thumb, Cutter or Slice? πŸ˜‰

  7. The $90 isn’t for pulling the stitches… its for their insurance in case they get sued.

  8. The sock fairy is related to the underpants gnomes.

Good job on the stitches removal. Just keep it dry. (Says personal experience).

  9. That sock fairy visits my house to often!
Glad to see your hand is healing up.And that you didn’t have to use your knife again to take em out. πŸ™‚

  10. Danny- Not yet, I still have all my teeth πŸ™‚

Carteach0- Good point, I wanted the ‘flush’ after they were taken out since I’m on the road, but I went and got Hydrogen Peroxide and Betadine and made my own for a LOT less…

    PH- Beats me πŸ™‚

    Snigs- um… nothing??? πŸ™‚

    DT- Good! πŸ™‚

    Julie- That we did!

Wing- I am. I know about the scar tissue ‘issues’ but thanks for the reminder!

ADM- Nah, this one is minor πŸ™‚

Andy- You’re right, I didn’t think about it at the time.

    Midwest- True! And I am!

SS- Nope, not EVEN trying that again for a while…LOL

  11. NFO – yeah, I’ll bet telling you about caring for scar tissue is like trying to teach my grandmother to shoot (I dunno about sucking eggs, but I know she can easily pick off an offending coon at fifty yards.)

    Hope you heal well!an

  12. Wing- I DO appreciate the reminder! Trust me… I do my best to FORGET how to do those things if you know what I mean…

  13. Glad the thumb is mending well. Every time you did something and I saw you wince I was wondering what was happening under that splint.

Looks like its doing damn well, Just give that tight skin some time to heal, then stretch it out, just like you did when you were a baby!

That SCAR is a fucking awesome rifle. Nothing else to add to that. I give it the highest praise calling it the FAL 2.0

  14. You do know that if you’ve ever fixed something with duck tape, bailing wire, or used a pocket knife as tool for something other than cutting you’re what we Okies call a “Redneck Engineer” don’t you? BTW I’ve done all 3 more times than I can count and bailing wire makes a pretty decent welding rod in a pinch.

  15. Weer’d- Thanks!

Poppa- I grew up in Louisiana and Arkansas πŸ™‚ I ‘know’ about redneck engineering!!! LOL
