Nothing much to say…

Looks like MORE cuts are coming for the Military…

At what point do we just turn off the lights, close the doors,  and stop being America so that MORE $$ can go to entitlements???

At what point does the Eagle become a Buzzard, picking over the carcass of this once great nation?

  1. Washington DC wants to buy votes. Stop the tap and the votes will go to the other guy.

Obama could give a rat’s ass what happens to America. I think his escape option is to run to Kenya…

  2. They’re still claiming the only reason the stimulus didn’t work is because he didn’t “Go big” enough.
I’ve determined the only way this begins to improve is AFTER the inevitable collapse.
And that will be ugly, ugly, ugly…
Particularly for those unprepared folks who think he just didn’t spend enough.
    Be prepared.

  3. I can’t answer at what point that will come, but from the looks of things we will be finding out pretty soon.

  4. I personally think our military is brass heavy and equipment light. Funding reductions will come. What will probably happen is the superstructure will be retained and the hull scrapped. Maybe enough will be saved for the next administration to build upon.

  5. Murph/MrG- Yeah, skirted Congress again didn’t he…

LL- I’m truly beginning to wonder myself…

GB- Yep, I’m cleaning up guns, ordering ammo and moving money to accounts I can readily get to.

Andy- I’m at the point that I have to agree with you.

WSF- If they have their way, the military will be GONE… We are at our lowest ebb (at least in the Navy) since the early 1900s for ships, and the aircraft are hurting pretty bad too.

  6. Reforming military pensions should take place right after Congress and the President reform theirs.

  7. For those of us who served in Carter’s Military, this smells like the Bad Old Days all over again.

Except this time, if the Anointed One has his way, our Military People would be wearing UN Berets, and the Security Council would have the Launch Codes.

  8. Gerry- Concur, but it’s NOT like that is going to happen… sigh

Les- Yep, having been there, endured that, we are now in WORSE shape than then… dammit…

  9. The Left always tries to gut the military – even when it is their operation. The Secret Police and Education/ReEducation Departments grow – I have been studying History, nothing new under the Sun.

  10. Earl- You are correct, remember what we went through under Carter? THAT was not pleasant…

  11. Obama is nothing more than a Muslim Jimmy Carter writ large.

He’s the first president I ever wished would, you know. . .

I despised Carter, was disgusted by Clinton, but am enraged by Obama.

  12. Can’t agree. Please explain our “national interest” in having U.S. troops in Japan, Germany, Italy, England, S. Korea, Egypt and other bases around the world. We’ve been the world’s police man for long enough. If Europe, Japan and S. Korea can’t AFFORD to protect themselves, then I guess they will have new masters.

Bring ALL the troops and their families home, keep the carrier groups and fund the Marines as a rapid reaction force.

If you havn’t noticed, the government is borrowing $44 of every $100 they spend and $30 of the $44 is PRINTED. We can’t AFFORD IT anymore. The military is going to have to take it’s bite of the crap sandwich, just like the rest of us.

  13. I’m sitting here composing a reply and going nowhere. Some, not NFO, may make light of the issue facing our military but it isn’t a light-hearted subject.

Stop and think what triggers a coup or a civil war. One is when the military loses faith with government.

At best, the military will leave. Recruitment will plummet.

    At worse…

That’s something to give everyone nightmares.

  14. Fifty- I never mentioned national interest, but since you brought it up; ALL administrations, including this one, agreed to support mutual defense treaties we are signatories on with our allies. I also don’t think you actually understand what would happen to our manufacturing/supply chain if we walk away from Korea, Japan and that region. You like your TV? Gone… No chipsets, no silicon screens, etc. We do not have ANY capability in the US to manufacture ANY of that, it ALL comes from Korea/Japan. And China WILL take every bit of it. NATO/ANZACUS/SEA? No more oil, how are you going to drive your car?

Research?- Gone, significant budget cuts will impact R&D, because we have to support the troops, and the only ‘discretionary’ funding is R&D and new acquisition.

And that WILL occur even if you brought EVERY troop home…

ADM- Of course they do, the military doesn’t vote for them, and that is money they can use for entitlements, as I posted on earlier…

    Crucis- You are correct.
