This is interesting…

The ENTIRE county of San Diego just lost power… Cause unknown, but this ain’t good! This from SDGE-

There’s a major power outage in the region. SDG&E crews are working as quickly and safely as possible. We don’t have an estimated restoration time. The power could be out through the night and into tomorrow. The outage has affected street lights. Please drive safely and treat the street lights as a four-way stop. If you have a personal family emergency plan, please activate it now.

1946- still no power apparently the SOCAL grid is down. Kudos to the Hilton Harbor Island, they’ve brought out food, water, cylumes and flashlights! Food, water, ice cream and beer are FREE!!! They are running emerg gen to keep basic stuff up and going out of their way to provide for guests!!!

  1. That is interesting.. a quick google search shows some info hitting the wires… no cause yet though

  2. Just heard about that. A friend from high school lives out there and put it on Facebook. Who needs the MSM?

  3. Obama’s giving his speech now. Coincidence? I think not!

In all seriousness, I hope this is just a squirrel in a transformer kind of situation.

  4. Perhaps it was caused by too many people throwing bricks through their tvs at the same time during Obama’s speech.

  5. Not that I’m advocating it or anything, but a chain thrown on the right place in a transmission (high line) system will shut off enough power to steal miles worth of copper.

  6. Heard about it on the way home today.
I immediately stopped and filled my Jeep, and did the same with the YF’s car when I got home. Gave the step-son and his GF $20 each to go fill theirs.
I just have a bad feeling somethings gonna happen this weekend…..
Have the speed loaders full of 357 Golden Sabers for the wife, and she knows how to use them!

  7. Power came back at 0046L, and it was a loss of “both” feeds as indicated by karrade’s link. At the airport, heading back to the rainy/flooding east coast… Lovely…

  8. MSM is saying it was an “OOOPS!” caused by a Homer Simpson-type Employee.

Of course, we all KNOW that’s a lie, and it really was George Bush’s Fault. ; )

  9. Les- Yeah, that is ‘interesting’ in and of itself… He apparently ‘removed’ a ‘remote monitor’ in a sub-station which promptly drops the ENTIRE grid? I don’t think so…
