Hey Untied…

You are doin it rong…

You have a good charity that you are working with (Children’s Hospice), but your execution at IAD this morning leaves a LOT to be desired…

When you close the diamond checkpoint with 10 people trying to get in and NONE of your group ready to go, that’ll cause some heartburn, and the little shooing motion??? All I can say is get over it, you’d little power trip is not impressing anyone!

And in the insult to injury department, closing the far end D gate is a nice gesture for the kids, closing the ONLY smoking area in that terminal is not gong to win you any friends with either the passengers OR your co-workers…

And the gratuitous comment about our not needing to smoke, with the little supercilious sniff at the end? well lemme just say you’re lucky there were kids close to us or you would have gotten a comment back that would probably have kept me from flying today!!!

As an OBTW, I do happen to be GS with y’all, and if you REALLY piss me off, I can probably take about half a million dollars a year worth of business to American…

Just sayin…

  1. Reminds me of Ruth Buzzy. “We don’t care, we don’t have to! We’re the phone company!”

Except… they do have to care, as they strictly a customer service industry.

I doubt GS will care about rude service, as long as the price to corruption ratio is within approved guidelines. Now… if United raises it’s cost to fail ratio enough…. that might catch attention.

    WV= ‘Storm’. Not kidding.

  2. With what people already have to go through in order to fly, you’d think the airlines would be a little more deferential to their customers.

    Better you than me…

  3. United is my LEAST favorite airline, with Northwest a close second.

No, I don’t think that American is worse, but I avoid that airline (only after Northwest and United) too.

  4. Oh my! How do you make all this Asian hops without a smoke? That must be agonizing. And at least you are Global Services… imagine how they treat those with no status.

  5. Picking a “good” airline these days is like picking a good car when your choices are Corvair, Pinto, and Yugo.

Airlines don’t care about customer service – they have a captive market … and it’s effectively illegal to complain – at least on-site.

  6. DB- Yep… NOT a good way to start the day…

Carteach0- Pretty much the attitude today. And concur on the rest of the comment…

Crucis- Braniff, TWA, Piedmont, hell, ALL of them are better than what we have now…

MSGT- It was for the ‘children’… sigh

    WSF- TRUE!!!

LL- NONE of them are my favorites, but at least United does go where I need to go, and lots of long leg directs.

    drjim- True.

    Andy- Booze… 🙂

    Tim- Not EVEN close, dammit…

    Q- Good point!

  7. If at all possiable, I will drive to my destination. I do not like being treated as a conficted criminal because I bought a ticket.
I will be glad when my plane is flyable again.
I can beat the smokey tube halfway across the USA. No cavity search involved. My schedule.

    Thanks for your service.

  8. DS- yep, lots of time driving IS actually quicker and sure as hell less stressing!

    GB- agreed!

  9. Little do most folks realize, smoking may be bad for *my* health, but me not smoking is bad for *their* health. Some days, that addictive pack of cigs is all that is between me & full blown homicide. >.<

  10. I fly commercially as little as humanly possible. In fact, we’re shopping for a bigger, faster plane (Cessna T210) for our longer xcountry jaunts.

When full-time retirement hits in the next couple of years, I’m building a Lancair.

And then ALL commercial flying will be over as I never intend to leave the country again.

Between TSA and airline “management,” I’d rather have a root-canal done by way of my ass sans the novocaine than deal with what passes for today’s commercial airline travel.

  11. RV-12 is first up on my to-build list, followed by an RV-8 and then the -10 (if we really need one, and maybe instead of the -8). Lancairs are very nice, but there are fighter pilots who don’t have the reflexes to keep up with one when lower and slower…

I also avoid flying commercial. Too bad you cannot drive to Asia.
