Panetta disarms Marines in a combat zone!!!

Article HERE

Less than a week after a US staff sergeant allegedly massacred 16 civilians in Kandahar, American soldiers were banned from bringing guns into a talk by Mr Panetta at a base in Helmand province.
Around 200 troops who had gathered in a tent at Camp Leatherneck were told “something had come to light” and asked abruptly to file outside and lay down their automatic rifles and 9mm pistols.
“Somebody got itchy, that’s all I’ve got to say. Somebody got itchy – we just adjust,” said the sergeant who was told to clear the hall of weapons.
Major General Mark Gurganus later said he gave the order because Afghan troops attending the talk were unarmed and he wanted the policy to be consistent for all.
I’m throwing the BS flag here- Afghans normally DO NOT have weapons when in the presence of high ranking officials, USMC/USA/USN ALWAYS have been authorized to carry weapons in a combat zone…
“You’ve got one of the most important people in the world in the room,” he told the New York Times, insisting that the decision was unrelated to Sunday’s killings. “This is not a big deal.”
WTFO???

And video from Breitbart saying the same thing HERE.
This crap is going entirely TOO far, if they don’t trust our own troops, the stay the F**k away from em…

  1. What, you expect Panetta to trust men and women he’s sent into harm’s way to act like the professionals they are?

    Fuhgedabowtit!

At least the guys who were left outside to guard the weapons didn’t have to listen to him speechify.

  2. It appears that the military has completed the transition to political eye-candy only. Feel very familiar – been there, done that. Time to come home!

  3. “”You’ve got one of the most important people in the world in the room,”

    Full of ourselves, aren’t we?

  4. I heard a stat that 20% of our combat injuries come from other coalition forces… they being the Afghan Army and National Police. That’s one in five. So yeah, our guys should be armed.

  5. Do you think the commander of the base if taking the flak for SecDef? Do they not realize the negative consequences it will have for morale? They are embedding the idea that US troops can’t be trusted at the worst possible time. If that isn’t giving aid and comfort to the enemy then I don’t know what is.

  6. “if they don’t trust our own troops, the stay the F**k away from em…”

I’m sure the troops would prefer to be armed and away from panetta and the other administration know-nothings.

    I know I would…

  7. Same thing happened with Bill Clinton in 1994 when he went to the D-Day ceremonies, they removed all the weapons from the troops. Democrats have problems with American troops in general.

  8. Unfortunate sign of the times for our service men and women. Democrats just don’t like anyone having fire arms.

  9. All- Thanks for the comments, I’m still so F’ing mad I don’t EVEN want to get started again… ALL of you make valid points, and thanks for pointing those things out… (off to take more BP meds)…

  10. Gee, does that mean there’s no Armed Security as his Office in the Pentagon? Inquiring Al-Queda Minds would like to know.

  11. THEY, the powers that BE, think we put a uniform on and go kill people and break things because we will be richly rewarded and get a medal and a ribbon. Okay, and some VA benefits.

THEY, do not understand ‘greater love hath no man, than he would lay down his life for a neighbor’ and that is all the difference.

That is why I gauge ‘Leadership’ on if I would follow someone into attacking a dug in enemy. That is a yes or no — such a simple guy.

  12. And the kicker here?
Apparently the Aghan guy that got the unauthorized truck onto the ramp had it aimed at some Marines.
If THEY had been unarmed, this whole scenario would be different.
(He died from injuries from the resultant fire… I’m assuming the Marines lit him up.)

  13. And let’s note that shortly after this it was revealed that a Marine who’d been listed as ‘died in combat’ had actually been murdered by a Afghan troop.

So how many of our dead were murdered the same way and are still being covered up?

  14. I’ve shook hands with some of “the most important people in the world” while overtly armed. That’s part of their job description, to meet with armed men and women.

    Weird.
