Are you coming for MY guns???

Sullivan Act of 1911, National Firearms Act of 1934, Gun Control Act of 1968, AWB, limited/no CCW privileges, gun confiscations in emergencies, “proof” of ownership…

Where does it end, or does it?

Here is a sampling of people I respect and their posts on our about Aurora and freedom…

Peter has a good one HERE, eIA has a good post up HERE, Brigid has one up HERE, Guffaw has one up HERE, Robert has one up HERE, Sean has one up HERE, Weer’d has one up HERE, JB has one up HERE, Navy 1 has one up HERE, and Uncle has one up HERE

Why do the liberals HATE the 2nd Amendment so much, and refuse to listen to the truth and deal with reality?

I was coming back from the range today, and stopped to get gas and a bottle of water.  I happened to have on this shirt.

And a lady with a smallish (8-10 year old boy) were standing in line behind me.  I heard him ask his mother what the 2nd Amendment was, and she told him words to the effect that he didn’t need to worry about it and it was an excuse bad people used to carry guns.

At that point I turned around and I asked her what she meant; she said words to the effect that “people” like me caused the shooting in Aurora, and that “I” deserved to have all my guns taken away and I should probably be in jail.  I asked her if she knew that AMC Theaters is a gun free zone, and that if CCW ‘had’ been allowed, there was a chance there would have been a LOT less fatalaties and injuries.  She responded, “No, there would have been MORE killed and wounded because bullets would have been spraying everywhere!”  At that point she was raising her voice, and she grabbed the boy by the arm and stormed out of the station.  The two other guys in the store were amazed by her actions, one pointed out that she was a “clinical hoplophobe” and we all agreed!  We were just standing there shaking their heads when we noticed her drive up behind my truck and write my license number down…

You can guess what was on her bumper…

But it does raise a question or two in my mind. How do we prove we own our guns?  What about our ammunition or re-loading components? What if she reports me as having ‘threatened’ her?  What if I get that knock (or no knock) on the door in the middle of the night?  What is the next stage in the gun grabber’s agenda?

Proof of ownership is becoming an issue, witness what happened in NOLA and in NC after the confiscations.  If you couldn’t ‘prove’ you owned the gun by providing written proof, you didn’t get your gun back, even though they had the records that it was taken from YOUR possession.  What about the family guns, handed down through generations?  Or that, according to Bloomie, “illegal” gun you bought at a gun show? What is the definition of proof?  I don’t know…

And how much ammo is ‘enough’…  Any time I go to the range I’ll shoot 150-200 rounds of major caliber pistol/rifle and probably 200 rounds of .22 for warmup.  When I was practicing to compete, I’d shoot 1000 rounds plus a month in practice… I normally buy ammo by the case, to save cost an simplify storage.

I actually asked the two guys and they gave me their addresses and phone numbers, just in case she does try something.

I do keep loaded guns handy in my house, and I don’t answer the door at night (well, I DID screw that up once)… I’m thinking if that does occur, I’d dial 911 put it on speaker, and keep the chain on, block the door while asking for a picture ID.  That will probably get the door taken and me either proned out or possibly shot since I WILL have a weapon.

More and more laws have not stopped the criminals, in fact we’ve seen MORE serial killings, mass killings SINCE most of those laws have taken effect.  And a bigger and bigger push to ‘outlaw’ guns…

What piece of legislation would have stopped this tragedy?  Please somebody tell me that…

PLEASE!

BECAUSE CRIMINALS DON’T OBEY LAWS! They could care less, and they want us not to be able to defend ourselves, it makes it a LOT easier to threaten and do violence to unarmed people.  Witness the mass shootings that have occured, most have occurred in “gun free zones”, just like a lot of the mob violence…  The criminals know there aren’t enough LEOs to handle the situation, respond in time as most crimes like these take place in seconds to a minute or two.

In the current ‘flap’ over the tragedy in Aurora, the liberals are truly dancing in the blood of the dead and injured victims.  Not the first whit of sympathy, just pushing the “Military guns” mantra- He had a MILITARY pistol (Glock 40), an ASSAULT weapon (S&W M&P AR-15), and a TACTICAL shotgun (black 870 12 Ga).  And ILLEGAL clips (33 round Glock mags, and apparently a 100 round C-mag), but the actual AR in this article (scroll down to the bottom) shows a regular 30 round mag . And OMG ELEVENTY 6312 rounds of ammunition and he could shoot at a rate of 100 rounds a MINUTE!  And he got all that ‘legally’…

But if we pass more laws he can’t do that!!!

I’m beginning to believe there are two possible agendas at play here, one is to turn ALL of us into felons through a mishmash of  laws that will be so confusing we WILL sooner or later violate one and get nailed.  The other, I think will be an attempt to make ammunition hard/impossible to buy, or only be able to buy it in one box lots.  And tax the hell out of every bullet.

What is coming in the next few months?  I have no idea… BUT I will hazard a guess… If the congresscritters cannot make a deal on the budget, we ARE going to see cuts in everything, including entitlements, welfare, etc.  When that happens, I believe section 8 housing, and those that live off those entitlements will go on a rampage unlike anything we’ve seen.  It will occur mainly in the cities, as that is where most of those folks live.  I also think it will make the LA riots look calm.  Interestingly, one of the ONLY strip malls that did not get fired/looted in the LA riots was Korean owned and they DEFENDED their property with guns and DID shoot people.  After that nobody tried anything around them.

The other thing I would guess is a possibility of marital law being declared, and God forbid if you actually defend yourself… Especially if you shoot someone of a different race.

OR, will the BATF go into gun stores and take the gun books and pay ‘visits’ to those in the books and confiscate their (and MY) guns???

I ‘hope’ none of my worst case scenarios pans out, but I’m going to STAY prepared! And wait for that knock on the door…

Are you coming for MY guns??? — 28 Comments

  1. People like her are the first to call the police, who are minutes away at best.

How they can justify to their family their weakness and lack of responsibility is beyond me. Not being armed is a guarantee of being a victim when a criminal strikes.

  2. I’ve been contemplating the quandary that law abiding gun owners may be put in. I don’t have a lot of guns but I have several, some which have sentimental worth since they were Dad’s. And I have absolutely no inclination to allow anybody to take them regardless of any new law that is passed. At which point I become a law breaker.

  3. You launched your “Are you coming for MY guns???” blog post at 6:00am, Monday, 7/23/12, 52-minutes after my response to your “Range Time!!!” of 7/22/12. Therefore, you may have been banging it out when I launched my p-communiqué, and missed my “Keep a surveillant, vigilant eye out in your rearview mirror on your commute to work and trips to the grocery store, and beware of trailing black helicopters in the sky. Who knows, you may soon get treated to a “No Knock Warrant Wake Up Call.” ;-)”

Au Contraire, my Pistol-Packin’ Patron Vet. STAYING PREPARED! is prudent, but as far as “And wait for that knock on the door…” when the balloon goes up, there will be NO KNOCK with a NO KNOCK WARRANT.

Do not fear that Obama-Huggin’ Limousine Liberal Le Fem Encounter Of The First Kind that you had. You name is already solidly and permanently in hard-core memory in DHS’s “Big Brother” Computer, along with all your shooting buddies, know shipmates and associates, and followers and readers of your “Nobody Ask Me” Blog.

KEEP DEFENDING THE U.S. CONSTITUTION AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC… AND KEEP THE FAITH…

  4. Thanks for the link.

You can at least be comforted by the fact that the cops she called were laughing at her.

It’s going to be a sad day when the gun grabbers figure out that the cops don’t want to sieze our guns for them.

  5. Thanks for the link!

AGirl posted about when we would know it was “that time” to join the patrons of the “Green Dragon” – I think this article pretty well answers the question.

When our government comes for the guns – all the guns – it is time . . . .

  6. Thanks for the link!

All I could thinking when reading about your encounter with that woman was, “And gun owners are supposed to be the crazy, paranoid ones” She is clearly off her rocker. Poor kid.

  7. I’ve often thought about the times after Obama’s defeat or when the social welfare money runs out or is cut. The unrest in the entitlement community would be unpleasant at best.
Armed resistance would seem to be the only avenue of recourse to those able to do so. The big difference between now and the riot seasons of years past is the level of preparedness and awareness of what might and can happen, followed by determination to resist. If it happens, it won’t be pretty.
And finally, sadly, I think Joe-D’s comments are far too accurate.

  8. you know, it never occurred to me that having proof of ownership might be an issue.

i’ve kept receipts and paperwork for everything but my Mauser, and i’m tempted to ask my friend for a handwritten receipt even though it’s a few years after the fact. and i’ve already got a plan to scan every important paper in the house to keep copies both onsite and offsite, with the originals in a safe deposit box. this is just one more push in that direction.

  9. Every serious gun owner should have a contingency plan should something like government action against us actually take place. I know I do, And the next time that some of us here get together for shooting and fine dining, we should probably discuss that.

Speaking of which…when’s good for another try?

  10. The sad thing is that she can vote … and reproduce … and warp her kid’s mind.

I don’t know what to do about proof of ownership. I’ve got all my serial numbers recorded, and the more expensive ones are listed individually on my insurance policy (and I thought long and hard before I did that), but there are several that aren’t listed and that I don’t have paper for.

As for ammunition, I don’t have your burn rate, but I do tend to buy it in person and pay cash for it. It’s more expensive, but there’s no paper trail.

  11. Sadly, whether or not we have ‘proof’ probably won’t matter to the JBTs at (or through) the door.
How sad that this woman is passing along her abject fear to another generation.
    Watch your back, jack!

And thanks for including me in your list!

  12. I couldn’t agree with you more…I live in a part of Kansas that is very liberal and occasionally some one like your lady appears. Fortunetly the local police have learned that people who rant about “evil guns” are easy to control and usually they ignore them.

  13. I think I sorted out my problem of proving my ownership a little while ago.

When I decided to get suppressors, I started first by establishing a trust just for that purpose. That way, if something happens to me, we aren’t in any kind of legal limbo.

So I have a perfectly good legal container, specifically suited to be the owner of firearms. Thus, I put all the rest of my firearms into it. That just involved taking the ‘assession sheet’ provided with the trust, writing down the make, model and serial number of each firearm, and having it signed by witnesses.

Then I scan the assession sheet into a PDF, and email it to myself on public email hosting system, such as Hotmail or Yahoo or Google. That way, I have a image of the document, and a date/time stamp that it was sent, independently stored off-site so it can’t disappear.

The Trust documentation also comes with a lawyer’s name right on the front of it, so if the occasion ever comes up, I request the return of my firearm by saying, “It has come to my attention that you are in possession of property owned by FAMILY_NAME Trust, of which I am a Trustee. If you have a valid legal theory as to why this property will not be returned, it may be conveyed to the trust’s legal representation.”

  14. Ya know, this post is excellent.

I don’t have a contingency plan. I am not even sure what that means in terms of guns.

  15. Jess- True

    PH- Point…

Joe- Yeah, saw that AFTER I put this up.

    Sean- you’re welcome, and concur

    eia- Concur!

Robert- At least on THAT subject…

    Laura- Good idea!

    Roger- Yep, agree

Murph- I’m up for that- 4-5 Aug?

Tim- Heard that, but I get my best pricing over the net, so they’ve GOT me there…

    WSF- Yep 🙁

    GFA- Not a problem (Yet)…

Gaffer- They don’t do that here… sigh

Timo- Thanks, I’m going to look into that!

Agirl- Now is the time to start thinking about it…

  16. Living in Colorado , and considering Blogarado ammo drop-shipments of ammo a visit by concerned feds really wouldn’t surprise me this year .
I don’t expect any from state/local level because the locals know me and the state would communicate with them before any visit . I might just move some of the heirloom guns offsite a bit as a precautionary measure . I am not so worried about recovery as i am how they would be handled / stored by any fed that thought they could just take them to run serials ect.

  17. I had a firearms familiarization gathering last summer with some church folks. One woman nearly had hysterics when I asked her to dry-fire a pistol. She could, reluctantly, shoot a .22 rifle, but just couldn’t pull the trigger of a pistol even when I racked the slide, showed her an empty chamber and that the pistol had no magazine inserted.

“Pistols are for killing people,” she repeated.

I’ve come to understand that some folks are just unteachable. About anything.

  18. Personally I feel you should call the PD SO and file a complaint against HER. She obviously had a verbal altercation with you, therefore as an unstable person she purposefully went and wrote down your license plate number for who knows what purpose. Therefore you feel justified in asking for the local law enforcement to check up on her as to her intentions and to inform her that if she tries anything she will be in the wrong.

  19. Second Sean’s comment.

Talking with a cop around here, he mentioned that in the last few years they’ve gotten a lot more “man with a gun” calls, and had to waste a great deal of their time explaining that someone carrying a gun in VA is not necessarily breaking any laws.
He was complaining about the urban sprawl from DC spreading out as far as our little town, and how it’s changed things.

I’m betting you were up in Fairfax Co somewhere.

  20. NFO, you got the better of her and her child was there to witness it. She can never take that back. Hopefully her son will grow up and realize his mother has a shrill, petulant moron and steer another course in life.

  21. One agenda does not preclude the other.

1 – They want to turn all gun owners into felons by the passage of Draconian gun laws.

2 – They want to confiscate all firearms from all civilians. No exceptions.

3 – They want to criminalize, arrest and incarcerate anyone who resists change. See item 1.

Once legislation becomes law it must be successfully challenged to be rescinded. This is fine for such things as parking violations or noise ordinances. The thing is, the law exists and can be enforced until it’s declared unconstitutional (we would hope) and in the mean time the law will be enforced.

My only hope is that many police are strong supporters of the 2A – ah, but many are not and others don’t care. I also note that the police refused to enter the Columbine school when they thought an armed terrorist was still at large – and one victim bled to death.

  22. Gov’t Trashman fails to pick up trash & we leave it same place/ same time every weeek.
Gov’t Mailman fails to deliver packages & we leave said pkg in THEIR receptacles.
Gov’t Cops FAIL to serve felony warrants without SWAT team back-up and are TERRIFIED of night-time traffic stops [sensibly]…
Who is going to snap away my cold, dead fingers, exactly? Chill… me, you, the nuts, the validly paranoid and the NRA HAVE ALREADY WON — Ice-T knows what I’m talkin’ about. Just running up the electoral score with everyone but MSNBC. jeez.

  23. Grey- Not a bad idea… I’ll file that for future use!

    MSgt- Close… And I didn’t even have a gun visible…

Andy- Maybe so, but that is truly sad…

    Mad Jack- yeah…

    Russell- good points!

  24. Then we’ll look at a trend run in the market .
