Leavenworth, or correctly the US Disciplinary Barracks, is not too far from me. It is surrounded by stone walls around 30′ high I’d estimate with razor wire on top. I’ve driven by it a number of times when duty or job sent me there.
It’s very foreboding. I’ve never been inside. It does not appear to be a fun place. I took my AF separation physical at Leavenworth. I remember seeing the M-60s pointing out of the guard towers as I drove by.
Rumor has it that the gallows where they hung the German spies during WW2 are still there, stored away somewhere. That probably is just a myth but it should be a reality for some cases.
