News to me…

Another one from the Mil-email list…

HERE ARE LISTED, IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, ALL THE DEVELOPED NATIONS OF THE WORLD THAT OFFER BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP TO THE BABIES OF TOURISTS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS:

1. United States of America

That’s right, every other modern developed nation in the world has gotten rid of birthright citizenship policies! Yet, during the last few months most of the U.S. news media and many politicians have ridiculed comments by other politicians that it is time for the U.S. to put an end to birthright citizenship for tourists and illegal aliens.

Folks, the U.S. stands alone.
There used to be all kinds of developed countries that gave away their citizenship as freely as we do in the U.S. But one by one, they all have recognized the folly of that policy.
SOME MODERN COUNTRIES THAT RECENTLY ENDED THEIR BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP POLICY:

* Canada was the last non-U.S …. holdout. Illegal aliens stopped getting citizenship for their babies in 2009

* Australia’s birthright citizenship requirements are much more stringent than those of H.R. 1868 and took effect in 2007

* New Zealand repealed in 2006

* Ireland repealed in 2005

* France repealed in 1993

* India repealed in 1987

* United Kingdom repealed in 1983

* Portugal repealed in 1981

The United States is now the laughing stock of the modern world.

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas is a good example, 70% yes SEVEN ZERO percent of the babies born there in 2006 were to illegals… And WE paid for it! Link HERE!

Only the U.S. values its citizenship so lowly as to distribute it promiscuously to the off-spring of foreign citizens visiting Disney World on tourist visas and to foreign citizens who have violated their promises on their visitor, work and student visas to stay illegally in the country, as well as to those who just plain sneak across our borders.

It’s not just Mexico and South America who are sending illegals across our borders. Currently, the CBP reports that of those apprehended illegally crossing the border, China is number one.

We are giving away our culture, and economic and fiscal strength because our borders are not secure and we bestow citizenship irresponsibly. And the latest is the “Dream Act”, another vote buying scheme, and don’t forget about the ads in Spanish being aired in Mexico promising EBTs and welfare to illegals who come to the US…

  1. When my Father fought in the Hungarian Revolution back in October 1956, it took an Act of Congress to relax the Immigration Quotas so that the Refugees could come to the United States.

    Now, all we seem to need is an “Imperial Edict” from the Anointed One to implement the so-called “Dream Act,” which was shot down several times in Congress.

    Guess Mel Brooks was right: “It’s GOOD to be the King!”

  2. And note – children born to diplomats on U.S. soil are not given birthright citizenship. They are citizens of the country of their parents.

  3. News to me too.
    It does highlight one thing, though. Being a US citizen is a valued status, otherwise they wouldn’t seek it out.

  4. [my name is Party, Skunk-at-the-Party] 14th Amendment, gentlemen. Congress has spoken in the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli deal: the President has various waiver authorities & we are at his mercy, without a doubt. The POINT of birthright citizenship is to DENY power to Congress or the states regarding former slaves, but it was written as broad as it gets & DOES COVER ALL BABIES, no matter how much we dislike poor old Barry Dunham, man about town, who is clean and articulate. Sorry, squids.

  5. Jess- Concur!

    Bob/ADM- Agreed

    Les- Yeah, and we DON’T need one…

    PH- Another good point!

    Andy- Yep!

    Russell- Understood, but there is NO reason not to revisit the issue and change it. Why should we continue what has obviously become a significant problem???

  6. This reminded me of my sister in law’s mother who (as a British citizen) applied for a tourist visa to visit the New York in her 60’s (out on the QEII and back on a Concord two days later). She was refused the visa as they insisted she had to have a full American passport instead, because her parents happened to be in the US (father temporarily working there) at the time of her birth, until then her filling in her place of birth on forms as “New York” had been of no real significance.

    Also there are tales of mothers in early labour being rushed back to the English County of Yorkshire, from elsewhere in the UK before the birth, so that, if she had a son, it would be possible for him to play for the Yorkshire Cricket club.

  7. Dear Enn Faux: There absolutely IS reason to change the 14th Amendment. All I’m saying, is that it is not possible. The WELFARE STATE, if properly financed… would be a devastating blow to the moochers & that’s what we’re talking about. Welfare/housing/food/medical should be run not by the feds or the states, but by the counties via property tax & by the churches, etc. [1)hold breath, 2)turn blue, 3)call for submersible escape pod and a SEA-LAWYER…]
