Strangely compelling…

I know we’ve been back and forth on this, but I must admit I find Madison Rising’s version of the Star Spangled Banner to be strangely compelling.  And the video clips are impressive too.

Below the break is a NOT pretty picture, so don’t go there unless you have a strong stomach…

PSA-

THIS is why they tell you NEVER to grab the roll bar when you’re in a roll over…

This occurred offroad, but it also applies to any kind of racing.

Luckily, the docs were able to save his hand, and he ‘may’ even regain most of the use of it…

This is the xray after the fact showing all the pins, screws, etc. that had to be inserted…

REMEMBER, pull your @#^&$ hands IN if you’re in a roll over accident. DO NOT let this happen to you.

  1. What’s not to like? While the musical arrangement has been reinterpreted, it obviously is done with love of country and the desire to share with others who may not relate to the original version …. and I love the visuals they chose to go with. Thank you for sharing!

  2. I don’t have a problem with the anthem sung with reverence. But to me, it’s a song that clearly borders on the sacred.

Profaning the anthem or the flag is something I have a hard time dealing with.

  3. Like we used to tell guys the first time they stood up in the TC hatch on my M577, if that mother rolls, roll up in a ball and just let yourself bounce around inside the track. Anything else will either crush, cut, or rip pieces off.

  4. I normally prefer straight up versions, but I really like this one. Possibly because I know the group means it with all due respect.

  5. I agree, Madison Rising’s rendition is compelling, though I usually prefer a traditional version.

  6. Nothing inappropriate with their rendition. Certainly not traditional, and I don’t expect it will be played by the President’s Own at the White House, but respectfully done.

  7. I understand the lead singer was a Navy Corpsman (not “corpseman” Mr. Obama, you Harvard educated lawyer you.)

And yes, it is a tremendous rendition of the Star Spangled Banner IMHO.

  8. Like most of the other commenters, I’m a ‘play it like it was written’ guy. But this version ispretty compelling. Maybe it’s the video, maybe it’s the fact that they don’t make it all about them, maybe’s it the respect and sincerity, but I like it.

    Thanks.

  9. Joey- Concur!

LL- Agreed, but I DO like this version…

DB- Yep, but apparently NOBODY has told the younger generation… sigh…

PH/Suz/Don/Ed- Yep, not standard but good!

    TJ- Yep, he was

    Tim- Agree!
