A Joke and NOT a Joke…

Our minds are truly strange and wonderful things…

The top pieces are sort of a joke, but the bottom three are not.

This is NOT a joke. If you were able to pass these 3 tests, you can cancel your annual visit to your neurologist. Your brain is great and you’re far from having a close relationship with Alzheimers…

A Joke and NOT a Joke… — 22 Comments

  1. LL- THAT is still open for discussion according to my Paramedic daughter 🙂

    Jess- Yep!

    Mikael- Good! 🙂

  2. Interesting . . . . does this mean I really do understand what my wife tells me???? If so, I gotta make sure she’s never reads this post, been gettin’ by on the idea I’m just becoming an old fart . . . .

  3. That ability is a function of whole word reading which is only possible after you’ve learned to read proficiently..which is best done phonetically – unfortunately we have a generation of iliterates because the educational elites thought kids could be taught whole word reading from the get go istead of phonetics…see Jerry Pournelle for more on this…

  4. Funny, I seem to qualify as having one of the higher-rated minds on that particular scale. I’ve always been impatient with the “L337-speak” stuff. My proof reading skills are strained by the fact that spelling only needs to be vaguely approximate for me to make sense of it.
As a child, I spent a LOT of effort learning how to spell correctly and write clearly. Now it’s permissible to just throw characters onto a page or screen, and people accept it.

  5. I frequently type the way those messages are written, and have to go back & correct for my dyslexia. Now they’re saying I shouldn’t bother.

    Who kenw?

  6. I liked that. Find the N was difficult but the rest were easy. I guess my blog rants really do keep my mental muscles in shape!

  7. Agirl- 🙂

eia- It does, kinda sorta… 😛

    Differ- Concur and excellent point!

    Jenn- Smartass! 😀

    PH- Yep, that works well.

    JPG- Another excellent point!

    WSF- It’s there… 🙂

Rev- That CAN be a challenge for dyslexics, as they DON’T see simple errors.

Crucis- Yep, that was the only one that too work.

    Anne- Thank you! 🙂

    CP- 😛 Not MY problem…

  8. I have heard that coffee may prevent Alzheimer’s, I am giving my cup of java the credit for me passing this test!

  9. That was interesting but I didn’t think it was too hard. I’m not sure pattern recognition is the definition of higher intelligence though.

    Still, very cool test.

  10. Whew! I got all three but I’ve gotten to the age where CRS has taken serious hold so I’ve been worried.
