And THIS has been one of them…
First, it’s the pawn shop with the decent rifle and ‘probably’ fake bayonet… Give the guy an honest offer, and what do we get back?
Oh I checked with my wife, she’s an ‘expert’ on M-1s and we want “this” much… Too bad the rifle was an 03 A3…
Second was a stop at Academy Sports (Spit)… Looking at a little AR type 22 trainer, and I get told you’re out of state and we can’t sell it to you! WTF???
Sigh… I’ll defer to Lawdog (post to come) on THAT particular set of comments, but suffice to say I will NEVER darken their doorstep again…
And ammo? Good frikking luck… Talking to a guy at a REAL gun store, he said by 0800 yesterday morning most of the ammo sites were SOLD OUT!!!
And the gun store owner said yesterday was the BEST day he’d ever done for sales (and of course sold the ONE AR 22 he had)…

Things are getting slim out there. I have had my eye on a VERY basic DPMS Oracle and went and picked it up yesterday. Also had a Remington 870 tactical sitting next to it, got that too. He has 50,000 rounds of .223 on the truck headed his way, 1,000 rounds are mine. Maybe another 1,000???????
Phone range 3 times today to sign up for my Basic Pistol classes this weekend. Lots of nervous laughter, concern, “are you having more, can’t make that one”. The election has a number of folks on edge.
And just for the record (noting to do with you words BTW), if I hear one more frickin’ person say the next 4 years will be “interesting” I will need every single roll of duct tape in your photo to hold my head together!! It’s not going to be “interesting”, it’s going to fricking SUCK!!!!!

Nope, still not workin’.
Not that I need it, but had an ammo order in by 4am Wedn morn. Just got E-mail that it’s all shipped. Only thing left are a few thou of the .22 my rifle appreciates, and a fill in order on 12 gauge buckshot….. as I ordered a 590 this morning, and want an extra 250 rounds to break it in.
The local shelves are suddenly bare here, too. And I’ll take eiaftinfo’s advice.
Luckily, I just got quite a bit of ammo. Sadly, I’ve been in the market for an AR in .308 for some time and if I thought it was hard before now, it will probably be impossible to get one.
I hate those ‘metro-sexual’ sporting good stores. I have one rule – if they stock tennis rackets I will not darken their door. M1 expert, yeah, right.

Sadly with wife still only able to get part time work, unable to do much in the ammo supply. Have several hundred rounds for our carry pieces, and maybe a couple hundred of 5.56. So every week I just buy a box or two and another AR mag. yeah it’s slow but ya do what you have to.
I’ll bet the Tulsa show is going to be an absolute zoo this weekend.
I managed to attend the one the weekend right after 0bama was elected and it was pure nuts. You were waiting in line waiting to get up to the table to look.
Sadly, I’m dealing with a partially-paralyzed leg this year and can’t walk the local shows, let alone Tulsa.
Right now I see frenzy buying. That drives cost and availability.
Obowow probably isn’t going to push 2nd amend. for at least a year, maybe two.
Unless you’re very short in certain areas, now isn’t the time to buy.

I am so behind the curve, but I learned from all of you and didn’t wait for the outcome of this crazy election. I have been buying ammo regularly for months and, of course, my AR. I probably could use more, but I feel good about the progress I have made.

Our police chief is having to scramble to get enough ammo for required range time for his officers. That’s small town Texas for ya – the police department knowing which citizens have an ammo stockpile that they can dip into for a good cause!

Stopped by the good local shop here today, not a lot of people in the store and still a good selection. I ask the owner what gives, and he says that those that have failed to plan ahead need to wait until payday to make their panic purchases. He expects this weekend to be swamped, says that’s about how it was 4 years ago too.
Hit two local gun stores in past two days.
One had all 4 clerks working with customers on 4473s.
The other was enjoying a lull between the morning rush, which was mostly bulk ammo sales, and the lunch time horde. That store had called in all staff and 2 former employees for the week.
*SIGH* At least in 1861 they didn’t know how bad thing would get. OK, Rhett knew but no one would listen to him.

8000 rounds of .223 sold in the first hour of business.
Most popular calibers SOLD OUT by noon, along with several long gun sales.
I still think ammo is as good as gold. Buy lots of ammo today, trade it for gold at a date to be announced later.

My mom went and picked up a revolver she’s been eyeing at Ye Hunting and Firearms Emporium. Clerk said the surge of purchases started on Monday and has not let up. They are so low that they are selling the floor models because that’s all that’s left. The lady in front of Mom also got the floor model of the .45 she’d been looking at. On Wed I noticed a lady sitting on the stoop of a smaller local gun shop, reading a book and waiting for the place to open. Not sure if she was an employee or customer.
