Spammed…

First time I’ve ever had this happen, but I had to close comments on both the Dammit and One ND Away posts just now due to spamming…

Dammit had over 50 spams, and One ND had almost 30… In less than 24 hours!!!  The total of ‘other’ spam comments?  FOUR!

Anybody else seeing anything like this??? Or have I pissed somebody off to the point that I’m in the crosshairs???

Spammed… — 23 Comments

  1. Spamming of my In-basket has exploded over the last couple of days.

  2. Spammers are everywhere…maybe one of them just could not resist the invitation to turn off the paranoia that drips from every post you make. Or maybe you’ve finally gone around the bend and truly believe that your government is out to “get you.” I am confounded by anyone who served as long as you profess to have served could be so paranoid. It’s been 60 years since I signed on and I find it difficult to believe that I might have been in uniform at the same time as you. I thought the Navy I served in had better tools in selecting its members than that. I guess I’m wrong.

  3. I had a post a while back that was generating IIRC about 6 Spam per minute.

When I added the question: “Is the White House behind this?” They ALL stopped.

    YMMV

  4. Blogger has gone to hell with spam. I’m thinking that the posts with the most hits are getting spammed the worst.

Saw the drop off last week, but it’s right back at it.

  5. I turned off anonymous commenting a week or so ago and haven’t looked back. You certainly won’t miss the gutless wonder who posted at 9:30 p.m.

  6. You do know that when you make someone angry by sticking your head up, they take a shot at it?

You could take pride in your larger audience and excellent posts – your readers love your points much too much for the haters out there. Notice they never stick their heads up, or necks out. Cowards, everyone.

  7. I’ve had only one spam comment in the last six months, so I’m apparently not sticking my neck out far enough.

  8. I have had to change my moderation of comments to “after one day blog author must approve”

It cuts down on the amount of spam being sent to other commentors PLUS I take wicked delight in clicking the “Delete” button whenever I am advised that “Anon has made a comment”

  9. That’s why I don’t allow anon comments and moderate comments. II did it because I got tired of the SEO Spam garbage, but I haven’t had any other spam stuff. I’d be interested in screen shots of the spam though, so we could ridicule whoever left the comments, in the hope they would return and see us ridiculing their stupidity.

  10. NFO, anon @ 21:30 has hit you ,sipsey street, and several others in the last 24hrs. Yes Sir you’r gettin lined up by the Fed trolls.

  11. The spambots seem to like a particular post now and then.
My new years eve post has been swamped the last couple days.

  12. Blogger’s spam filter seems to catch about 150 a day on mine, and very few get through to me. I vet every comment, and have few issues as long as I am diligent.

Still no help for the ‘Anonymous’ cowards who take up undeserved space in this world.

  13. All- Thanks, and I think I ‘know’ who that particular spammer is… Jim H

    Posted from my iPhone.

  14. I had a bunch of spam from one spammer, about 3 weeks ago. Finally went to comment moderation, since Blogger doesn’t have a “report spam” function.

  15. PH- Yeah, and they were mostly identical…

Laura- I hadn’t had any real problems, maybe 10-20 a week until these two posts…

    JR- Good point!

And since I blocked comments on those two, I’m back down to 4 total since yesterday…
