Ye Gods and little fishes…

This one came over the transom from a reader…

Delegate Joe Morrissey, Democrat of course, from Richmond and Henrico County on the floor of the VA State House…

Proof positive that Democrats cannot be trusted on the gun issues:

Safe Rifle Criteria:
Magazine out-NOPE
Bolt locked back-NOPE
Safety on-Not clear, but appears from finger position that the safety is OFF
Rifle pointed in a safe direction-NOPE There is a gallery above him with people in it.
And last but not least: This idiot has his thumb through the trigger guard engaging the trigger.
And we should listen to this genius about gun control?
As a firearms instructor, I have personally observed 8 year olds who have a better safety ethic!

And I cannot disagree with him one bit… This is just unconscionable to be THAT unsafe with a weapon… Hell, the damn thing ‘could’ have been loaded for all we know…

  1. In any legislative body, one can only hope that it’s on full auto, has a full magazine and that the legislator is waving it in the direction of the Democratic Caucus.

These morons may have their uses…

  2. Let’s see… how many felonies did he commit by bringing that thing into the chamber? And how many will he be charged with?

I don’t know the answer to the first, but “more than one” seems safe.

    The second? Zero.

  3. Although “technically” an infantryman/rifleman [like all Marines —- umm …with a few extra pounds.] —even I KNOW to either:

    1) tackle & disarm that moron.

    OR

    2) break for cover & chill out until the inevitable happens.

    [sigh.] [quiet weeping.]

  4. LL- Snerk… You DO have a point! 😀

Rev/Keads/WSF- He’s ‘special’ so zero and zero… OR he could use the “Gregory” defense…

    PH- Yeah… sigh

    Russell- Concur

Rick- AND they elected him!!! Geez…

  5. As i posted on Yahoo and my Facebook page: VA firearms law

    18.2-282. Pointing, holding, or brandishing
firearm, air or gas operated weapon or object
    similar in appearance; penalty.
    A. It shall be unlawful for any person to point, hold or brandish any
firearm or any air or gas operated weapon or any object similar in
appearance, whether capable of being fired or not, in such manner
as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another or hold a firearm
or any air or gas operated weapon in a public place in such a
manner as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another of
being shot or injured. However, this section shall not apply to any
person engaged in excusable or justifiable self-defense. Persons
violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 1
misdemeanor or, if the violation occurs upon any public, private or
religious elementary, middle or high school, including buildings and
grounds or upon public property within 1,000 feet of such school
property, he shall be guilty of a Class 6 felony.

  6. This is one of those situations that calls for what me and my friends like to call the “slapping law;” that is, if you are doing something so fundamentally stupid is should hurt a police officer is required to backhand as hard as he can while verbally berating you.

  7. If memory serves, he broke no laws. Despite pointing in the general direction of people it was not an obvious intentional threat, so no brandishing. Legislators are conveiniently exempt from carry restrictions in the State House so he can legally have it there. Breaking nearly all the firearms rules, yes, no laws broken. On radio he claims it was inspected by local and Capitol Police and the Safety was “ON”. I would still invite him off any range I was running for his antics.

  8. And despite all that bad handling, that firearm didn’t jump up and nail someone. Amazing, isn’t it? Wwe are constantly told all those bad guns jump up and do bad things to people. Well, this was one very patient, understanding, and forgiving gun to have put up with all that stuff and not have gone out and done some dastardly deed in reaction.
