There is an epidemic of rape and armed robbery on the GA TECH campus and the students want to carry concealed weapons for protection. The GA Legislators are considering HB29 that will allow concealed firearms on GA campuses. As of mid-Feb, they are still having heated arguments, but nothing done yet. After seen some of the Frat parties, I can see why GA Tech doesn’t want to students to carry, but MOST are just wanting to be safe and have some control over their life.
You know, when I was attending the “Gun Free Zone” of Akron U a few years ago, I heard rumors that since the only “Check Point” that did a Bag Search was at the Campus Police Entrance, a few Students and Staff took things in their own Hands.
I heard that one COULD easily carry a Pistol in a Back Pack or a Professor’s Brief Case. And since it is an Inner City Campus surrounded by Ghettos, I COULD see some of those People carrying Illegally if they had to. After all, the surrounding Criminal Element just strolled through the Campus anytime they wanted to, but the Campus Police tended to “Hole Up” and not be in Sight, unless there was a Big Game at the Stadium.
Just rumors, mind you.

Even better, I just redid my e-Qip (electronic SF86) and was amazed at the number of questions about “overthrowing the Government”. And yesterday was interviewed for a coworker’s periodic review, and had a similar number of questions bout “overthrowing the Government”.

As despicable as the 1st Senator’s response was, he got right to the point without trying to deceive the woman testifying about the TRUE purpose of this proposed bill – hurt feelings apparently trump individual safety.
He probably drove home after that in his Prius, listening to kumbaya, munching flax seeds and then gave his kids each a “successful participation” trophy for crapping in the toilet instead of wherever they wanted to.
