There are good people out there…

I got this secondhand from one of my former crewmen, Charlie in Lampasas TX….
I believe it’s true and thought this was worth sharing.

I was at the men’s polo counter at Dillard’s yesterday in Lubbock. TX and saw a great selfless act. A man and his wife were checking out, and when he turned around to leave, he noticed a young serviceman behind him ready to check out.

The couple went out of their way to welcome the serviceman back. The serviceman told him that he was only there for a couple of days. Turns out, his grandfather had just passed away and he was home for the funeral. He confessed that he had no clothes and that was why he was at the mall. The man took the clothes from his hands and proceeded to pay for them when the soldier pleaded that he “didn’t have to do that.”

The man turned around and said, “Just like you didn’t have to defend my freedom. This is my pleasure, son.” The soldier was really grateful, and the sales associate was in tears. I just thought this story needed to be shared.

There really are truly good people in this world, and in Lubbock, Texas.

  3. Seems quite a few people are stepping up quietly and helping out… I for one am GLAD to see it.

  4. That’s how it’s supposed to be. That’s how it was when I was a boy on my aunt and uncles farm in arkansas. When a serviceman in uniform came into the western auto/general store and soda cooler hang out every male in the store would stand up and say hello. The one time I was more interested in talking to Rebecca my uncles neighbor’s granddaughter I got bopped on the back of the head by 3 different people at the same time. Servicemen in Uniform didn’t pay for their sodas at the store, and no one showed any disrespect. I wish it was still like that everywhere today.
