A little light stuff…

Since I fly a lot, a friend sent me this compilation that was done for one day of flights…

Everybody is used to seeing the US covered with aircraft everyday, but what about the rest of the world???

Enjoy 24 hours of flights world-wide! Note: It is cued to the sun as it moves around the globe. This is also why it will be extremely hard to impossible to close any borders anywhere…

Here is a pic from another friend at NASA. There are currently two shuttles in prep on adjacent pads at the Cape. All the airplanes in the picture are being flown by Astronauts and the Gulfstream G-3 Shuttle Training Acft (STA) in the center is the “practice” airplane for the shuttle pilots. It has a fly by wire capability that allows it to mimic the shuttle and do power off approaches and powered waveoffs for landing practice.

And last but not least, a democrat poster for your “enjoyment” Please do NOT throw things at the screen, it may damage the screen and or the computer… 🙂

  1. Love the poster on the media, rings of such truth. The map of a group of flights in a single day was informative. Didn’t know there were that many. But it does show with progress comes risk, and with out stopping progress must prepare for the risk.

  2. Carteach0- I try 🙂

CS- Between 10 and 15,000 a day world-wide. And agreed on the risk. Without world-wide cooperation, you cannot close a single border effectively, and you would shut down MANY critical services…

  3. Watching the flights reminded me of the video that made news on September 11th. You know, the one where it shows all air flights disappearing within a short frame pf time?

Conservative Scalawag said it all. It is simply amazing how many airplanes are up at any given time.

  4. I spent some time in the “hole” under Cheyenne Mountain and saw a similar display of aircraft in flight. It was a north polar view but that small group of dots leaving the Washington state towards Alaska reminded me of watching BUFFs flying towards their fail-safe points.

Sure am glad that war is over. I only spent 90days in Cheyenne Mountain and was glad to leave it.

  5. Elm- I remember flying to Japan two weeks later, there were more flight attendants than passengers…

    Fuzzy- you’re welcome 🙂

Crucis- Better you than me! That’s why I was a flyer, I would have gone nuts having to sit in that place!

  6. Nice!

It is amazing to see how the flights progress throughout the 24 hours.

  7. Kvegas- If the Lightbringer can use ’em, why can’t we??? 🙂

    ADM/Julie- Thanks, I try!

  8. Fascinating! Thanks~ (I’ll just ignore the Democrat/media poster. It tics me off…)

    So, there!
