With no disrespect intended to the Jackson family, this reveals the shallowness of our value system in this country. This puts things into perspective:
While the focus today, tomorrow and for the next God-knows-how-many-days will be the death of a pop culture icon, while many will mourn, wail and quite literally make fools of themselves over it and while as many will speak endlessly about it, allow me, if only for a moment, to remind us all that others have died this month.
Others whose lives were cut short, others who leave behind loved ones and whose families will dearly miss them, families who’ll suffer with much more dignity and honor than we’ll be exposed to on the tube in the coming days.
Yes… it’s true… we’ve suffered a great loss… but forgive me while I tell you that I’m not talking about the king of pop music, I’m talking about other Americans that gave ALL for their country!

For a bit there was the picture and names of fallen from Iraq nightly on some news broadcast, but they got away from that with the current President? It is called they don’t want to know, like not caring.
I have refused to post anything about that twit. I did mourn the passing of Ed McMahon who was a true American ideal for those looking for a model to mimic.
There are those of use who served in combat who understand the losses the nation and its family sustains in furtherance of national policy. For some of us, the KIA and WIA have a very personal, profound, and lasting impact.
The media has always had it in for those who serve beneath the flag in a general sense. Today the state-controlled media is mute on a number of significant matters.
But they seem to be like flies on whatever over the death of a freakshow of a man who got his kicks at the expense of children. They extol his virtue, bemoan his loss, and extend tributes to him when none have been earned.

Put the Barco Crew down for caring about the grieving families. We had no idea of the number of casualties, I think another commenter had it right; the present administration is not interested.

Yes,there are far more important issue to be concerned about,such as the ones you have mentioned.
Yet,here we are, facinated with this distraction by irrelevent people and nuaunce pop-culture media events.
All while our government is taxing us,spending money like a sailor on leave(no insult intended), and our freedoms are circuling the drain.
Yet this,is what Americans are more interested in. Now we know why this country may just be on its last leg.
So goes yet another republic,first Rome,not America.
