Since I have no life, I’m lucky I have a few friends that enjoy the same things I do…
Went shooting this morning with Newbius and his son, sighting in rifles (EBRs for him, 1940 Model 70 for me). We got everything on paper, and after barrel breakin on his new AR-10 started working on getting the scope zeroed… THAT was fun (Not)…
Finally got it dead on, only to have the pulse bounce keep him from putting rounds through the same hole! Three shot groups touching at 100m is not too shabby!!!
Meanwhile is his son is plinking with the AR-15 on plates at 200m and doing a good job of hitting probably 80%; considering it’s his first time on the rifle, I’d consider that pretty darn good!
We shot some steel plates, then back on the long guns for a finish to the morning. The heat and humidity was getting up there! >95 degrees, 90+% humidity (can we say limp dishrag)…
After that I hooked up with JR Shirley and his lovely lady for a late lunch of crepes (which I cannot cook, but like to eat. sigh…). Of course it turned into show and tell, and his lady decided she prefers a 1911 to a Glock (small hands)! Another prospective shooter, yea!
And I got to play with a couple of nice Boxers for a few minutes! I miss having a dog, but it just doesn’t work with my lifestyle (or lack thereof)…
Actually, I guess I had a threefer- I got home and got everything unloaded about 1 minute before the bottom fell out!
Now it’s back to the grind; wash clothes, pack and back to the airport in the morning…
Oh yeah, on the political front, maybe the Lightbringer REALLY should read the bill(s) before he goes on radio and lies to the country about single payer being optional… How about page 25, where it says if your current insurance does not meet the gov’t standard you are REQUIRED to go on the government plan???
And then they had some moonbat Democrat congresscritter on who said, “Everyone I talk to in ‘MY’ district is in favor of the health care reform bill.” She is either out in DEEP left field, or from Mass…
And lastly, I think the administration is playing three card monte with us… There are THREE committees in the house, EACH with a health care reform bill. To date, it appears everything we have seen published is nothing more than a trial balloon, to see what are the main sticking points.
I think we need to watch the administration VERY CLOSELY in Sept, and keep an eye on which one of the bills actually comes to the floor for a vote. I would not put it past them to pull a fast one, and there be a fourth bill lurking in the weeds somewhere that will be slammed in at 0030 the morning of the final vote. This would give the Dems deniability yet again!
“What, you mean this is a different bill than the one I ‘studied’ for two months? I didn’t know that, so I’m not responsible if there is something in it you don’t like, I thought I was voting for bill X”…
sigh… Washer dinged, so I better get moving!

Just vote NO! On everything. If anything is passed, we need to get moving on repealing it come 2010—including TARP and what’s left of Porkulous.

CS- I’m VERY lucky, I have three places to shoot, Quantico, NRA and the private range I’m a member of. My problem is just getting the TIME to actually go shoot… sigh…
Nice thing about taking a youngster out shooting.
They have yet to be told they can’t hit that 200m man-size target with a M-1911A1. (or whatever)
Then they do it…..once.
Then….go through another hundred rounds trying to do it again.

Glad you got to shoot a bit. We were out at some hillbilly bar last night, and of course guns and the LIGHTBRINGER came up. I won’t say what was said in that bar, but all I can say, they were about to bring the white sheets out. I laughed, gave them my opinion, and the update on what is REALLY going on in this country, without being racial. They were pretty surprised and I think I brought quite a few on board with reading a bit more and watching a bit more of Fox etc……
We got to guns, I am not an expert by any means. I can shoot the dickens out of anything I am TRAINED on, but I am no expert by any means. Of course I get a million questions about his round, center fire, rim fire, 7mm to 50 cal……… I don’t know all those guns inside and out……
Last weekend we had the unpleasantry of coming up against someone we have known for about 2 years, saying he could out shoot me………. He OF COURSE never said it to ME………….. He got my husband away from me at a party, while drunk, put his beer balls up and tried blasted me. Hubby held his ground, I got wind about a half hour later.
I proceed to call him up at 0130 and told him to bring the titles to all for of his vehicles, the deed to his house, and i MIGHT consider shooting the weapon OF MY CHOICE…………… My gawd…. I could here his balls shrinking over the phone.
I love shooting, i love my job, i love my brother and sisters in blue, may they be on the streets or in the armed forces, I am beginning to hate civilians more and more because they think we all suck. End of rant sorry……… I just had to do it since it is fresh in my mind.

If everyone that Rep. talks to is in favor of Obamacare, then everyone she talks to is carefully screened before she talks to them!
Here in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, the plan seems to be very unpopular with the people I talk to. Then again, I don’t discuss politics with pointy headed liberals from Cambridge, people on the dole, or anyone I know to be a Democrat!
Focus on the shooting and not on Obama. It’ll just depress you.
Thanks again for hosting us. We had a great time. Got your message about the gas block and concur. I wiped the area in front of the gas block on the barrel before we switched to Match Ammo, and there was noticeably less carbon on it from the last 20 rounds. I expect it will tighten up maybe even a little more with more use.

CPD- It IS interesting how women shooters are “put down”, but my experience is that y’all are by and large, BETTER shooters than most men!

There is only bill from the house H. R. 3200. The Senate does have three bills. The three will become one. Then it goes to conference committee. Afther that the final bill will be voted on in each chamber up or down with no changes. As you said it will be voted on in the wee hours of the morning. Watch out for holliday week-ends. Thanksgiving Day about 2 A.M. would be an ideal time to pass it. Two or three members on the floor with proxy votes in their pocket and nobody watching. The public would not know until the next week.
