Brigid had a ‘situation’ not long ago- For those females (all three of you) that read this blog, make SURE you go read THIS

For the rest- This lady knows of which she speaks, and is NOT a shy retiring violet, but this just sent shivers down my back. We all know violence is increasing and home invasions are on the rise with the increase in unemployment and current “situation”…

An example- At the gun show this weekend I was talking to an acquaintance who told me a guy he’d called a friend for years had gone off the deep end and robbed a drug store last week to try to get money to pay his mortgage while he looked for a job- He’s now in jail, his wife and kids are basically on the street, and he’s looking at hard time! It can happen to anyone…

Be careful out there…

  1. Amazingly, many people can read that and will still be of the mindset that “guns are too dangerous” to have around. The 357 goes where I go, it sleeps with me at night. I cannot imagine being in an unarmed home, especially considering the police are at least 15 minutes away, even coming at their best speed.

To me a lack of weapons is far more dangerous than not having them. (Oh, and now Molly can blow the wings off a gnat with the Black Hawk- funny how my daughter is the best shot in the family!)

  2. When I was five. I watched my mother send a hobo running with near misses from a Winchester Model 94 .30-.30. Our house was in the mountains along side the railroad tracks. If we had a telephone, the nearest police were at least an hour away.

This hobo was looking for a hand out. He saw a woman with a child alone and got aggressive. He nearly ended up dead. My mother only missed when she wanted. We stayed safe because my mother had a firearm, knew how to use it, and wasn’t afraid to use it.

  3. Unfortunately i have the added “thought in the back of my mind” of how i am going to explain to the cops why my gun wasn’t in the safe (with the mag and ammo stored in a separate safe) if i ever did have to use it against an intruder!

  4. Well Julie, as they say, “It’s much easier to get out of jail than a graveyard.”

But you already have that figured out. 🙂

  5. Well, I think you have more than 3 women followers!

I don’t have a gun, and have never fired one. I think it is scary when our population needs to carry a gun to feel safe.

We live in the country, well a very small town, and in 36 years of living here, I have never felt threatened. I am afraid it is going to change, because of the situations in our country.

So far, I think anyone around here who wants a job can find one. We have a lot of new construction, as well as harvest.

  6. My grandmother carried a .38 all her adult life including the day she died. My wife runs a free clothing store in a nearby town. Last year, there was a robbery next door with shots fired and the proprietor was wounded.

The violence is spreading out of KC into the surrounding towns. Ten years ago, this small town was quiet with few instances of gunfire. Sadly, that’s no longer true and all of us must be prepared. I bought my wife a S&W snubbie for an early Christmas present this year.

  7. I’ve started to carry inside my house more often. I think Mrs. TOTWTYTR is a bit nervous about it, but there have been a couple of home invasions in my town in the past year. One last week not only resulted in a double shooting and was less than a mile from my house.

I’m also going to encourage my daughter to get her license to carry. I’d rather have to bail her out of jail than bury her.

  8. Snigs- you are smart, and I know you are teaching the kids well 🙂

WSF- Mine carried a .41 derringer then a Colt Agent in her purse till the day she died. I only know of once that she had to use either one, and she also ‘missed’ on purpose. They were a different breed, no question!

Julie- you had it out for cleaning…

    Lorimor- yep 🙂

Linda- Thanks- I hope your area stays that way! I carry a pistol and believe me I hope and pray I never have to use it, but I will to protect myself and/or my family.

    Tex- agreed!

Christina- I know you are! Take the time and get what is right for YOU!

Crucis- see my answer above! and yes, it is getting worse… dammit…

TOTW- agreed! Judged by 12 vs carried by 6…
