Update from Wandering Neurons-
We made it to Nashville successfully, but tired. Today was visitation and the funeral. First event was very nice meeting Dad’s old friends, coworkers, and new friends. The funeral was very well done, very touching. Taps and flag folding was done and I’ve included a photo of the Soldier handing my stepmom the folded flag. Again, thanks for the support, and that of the bloggers.
WN Funeral
All I can say, is I’m glad things went well for them.  And thanks to y’all for your support.

  1. Glad to see the taps/folded flag ceremonies are still taking place. I recall reading that Obama was trying to cancel this service and blame the sequester.

Our vets should always be aware, and their heirs, of America’s huge debt of gratitude. Especially at a time such as this. Condolences.

  2. Thoughts and prayers for your family. I am so sorry for the loss of your Father.

  3. Again, thanks to all of you out there for your support and kind words. Things are winding down and I’m looking forward to heading home. It’s been rough, especially standing in his workshop turning out the lights for the last time.
OldNFO, you’ve given me a voice and outlet for my grief and I can’t thank you enough. Sorry you’ll miss the Shoot next week but I’ll see you to there…

  4. My dad died 40 years ago, and I still fight against remembering him too well because it hurts too much even with all these years gone. Maybe it’s different for girls, but he was my hero: still is.
