Meh…

Seventeen fun filled hours getting home last night, can’t brain…

0430 get up at PP’s house, two hour drive to airport, fly to SFO, break airplane twice, get new airplane and crew, finally get to DFW and two hour drive home, finally get there at 2130…

Reminds me why I don’t do this crap for a living anymore!

Go read the folks on the sidebar, hopefully a decent nights sleep  (OWN BED, yea!) will allow me to actually put coherent sentences together today…

  1. Those zero-dark-thirty preflights beginning to take a toll on you, OldNFO?

  2. I’d like a good nights sleep in my own bed, and I live here.
I wish I got paid for the weird tasks I’m trying to tackle in my dreams that seem vaguely work related.

  3. It sounds like a travel hex.

They do happen, but I’m happy to hear that you made it back to the compound in one piece.

  4. You had a great time, and you’re safely home. All else will be sorted by the passage of a day or two. I’m glad you’re okay.

  5. Are you awake, Jim?

    Just checking.

A visit to the Waffle House will patch you up properly!

  6. Own bed is always good. Could be worse – you could have been routed through O’Hell, ah, ‘scuze me, O’Hare (the only airport with a penalty box on the surface map).

  7. Ray- Yep, not 21 anymore, dammit…

Ed- Yeah, sadly we don’t get paid for those… sigh.

LL- Finally, and yes up at 0630… sigh

    CP- It was! 🙂

Rev- Yep, back to the grind of reality!

Fargo- Not to merry last night, but time helps… LOL

TXRed- LOL, O’Hare may be the only one with it marked, but I’ve been in the penalty box at SFO, ATL, DFW, IAD, ORD and NRT at one time or another… Or screwed over by the air farce and parked way the hell out in the middle of nowhere with NO transportation to ops.

  8. Yikes! Two planes broken!! That’s enough to make you glad you retired for sure!! Sleep in your own bed is the only and best cure!! Here’s hoping you feel like yourself again by Friday 🙂

  9. 0430 to 2130 is 17 hours (actually, closer to 18 when you add shower, coffee, etc. at the front end), so 18 hours X 60 MPH = 1,080 miles. No idea where in Kali you were, but using Bakersfield only because it’s pretty close to centrally located, B-field to Dallas is 1282 according to Bing, another 3.5 hours at 60MPH. From Sacramento, it’s about 1480. Also from Sacramento, the 2 hours spent driving to the airport would have gotten you out of the Peoples’ Republic, from B-field would have taken 3.

Would a 2-day road trip in a nice rental car have been preferable to victimization by the airline gestapo?
