Protests, riots and whatever…

As the BS continues, so far it appears nobody has capped one of the violent protesters (yet)…

Found THIS over at Bearing Arms, 15 Actionable Tips for Staying Safe during Civil Unrest…

I’m liking #1-  Don’t go near it: If you don’t have to be there, don’t. There’s no honor in putting yourself in harm’s way, taking a brick to the head, and getting put in a coma. If you can stay away, do it. Leave the ego at home. Don’t look for trouble, because you’ll find more than you can handle.

I’m too old, slow and grumpy to go ‘play’ with the kids. I’m also smart enough to know when to keep my damn mouth shut, BUT if you get up in my face and/or try any crap, I will do my damnest to stop you by any means available to me…

Thankfully, I live in Texas, outside a small town. I don’t see myself having to deal with this stuff any time in the near future, but that doesn’t mean I’ll lower my situational awareness.

Protests, riots and whatever… — 15 Comments

  1. Yep, the hate is thick enough to cut with a knife. Could not believe the comments of equating Super Bowl results with Donald Trump. They need a good spanking, each and every one of them.

  2. I think the protesters choose their locations, and the locations aren’t where their members will be confronted, or citizens are armed. If they don’t continue this method, and some find they can’t argue with high velocity lead, the $15 an hour won’t attract any future participants.

  3. I am still scratching my head. We have bigger “riots” at Michigan State University when the snow melts (Cedar Fest) or when we win an important basketball game. The rioters in Berkley would have failed Couch Burning 101 at MSU.

But anything that happens in California, New York or Boston is news.

They are either totally self-absorbed or are trying to sell an agenda. Or maybe both.

  4. Oh you’ll love this. The same “organization” that ran the Portland and Berkly(spell?) riots planed to “demonstrate” in Louisville Ky this week. The C.O.P. In Jeff. County had a meeting with them where they were informed that they had the legal right to “march” BUT: That Ky. had both conceal carry and “stand your ground” laws. If any of them attacked someone they could be lawfully shot by that person or any other person with a CC. Further they were told that donning a mask or hood whilst “brandishing a weapon or otherwise engaging in a felony” was its self a felony for which they could be lawfully shot. They decided mot to hold the march.

  5. IIRC there was one shooting in self defense at the riot that sprang up around Milo. But I can’t remember if that was at Berkeley or somewhere else 😐

    • Jon, I believe it was in Seattle at the University of Washington.

  6. j.r.- Agreed! Dammit…

    Jess- Concur!

WSF- Yep, it happens. And us old farts DON’T fight fair!

    ERJ- I’d go with both!!!

    Ray- Love it!!!

Jon- I’ve heard that, but wasn’t able to track it down. And the ‘riot’ did continue into downtown Oakland after they left Berkeley…

  7. We live in a small town, and are unlikely to be in an area where any such riot would likely occur. Doesn’t mean we’re not prepared, but avoiding stupid places is highest on the list.

  8. Like the Irishman said “If I knew where I was going to die, I’d never go near the place.” That’s me; if I know there might be trouble, I’ll find someplace else to be. But I’m an armed and cranky dysfunctional veteran, so while I’m not looking for trouble, if someone comes around that IS, I’ll do my best to make sure they don’t go away disappointed.

  9. Jon, the shooting you refer to occurred January 21 at University of Washington, but it was an own-goal for the Antifa protesters. The shooter saw *another* protester who had a tattoo of a swastika under a red bar and circle (so a “No Nazis” tattoo). Dumb-ass shooter saw only the swastika and shot the other Antifa in “self defense”.

  10. RE: Ray’s comment.
There’s your proof that concealed carry and stand your ground laws need to be passed on a national basis.
Them rioting fools (if they are capable of thinking) hopefully would think more than twice about their hobby.
