This could be interesting…

I posted earlier about the possibility of doing an anthology around the Calexit idea, and as of today, I’ve got four people who’ve signed up to do stories!

It should be interesting to see what folks come up with, and I ‘think’ we’ll be shooting for an October release. Anybody else want to play???

  1. Oh man, now you have me salivating. Unfortunately, I am not a writer nor do I play one on TV. However, I am a pretty good researcher and purveyor of ideas. I’d be glad to help out anywhere I can if someone needs an extra pair of hands/eyes/brain cells.

  2. I read it, loved it, and reviewed it. You did cause a minor problem on the home front when my wife’s suggestion of what “we” should be doing conflicted with reading the story.

As Oliver Twist said so famously, “Please sir, I want some more.”

  3. …that’s really tempting though October may be a bit too fast for me. I’d love to get a short story out in the wild, even if the pay is peanuts.

However, I’ve no background as active duty military or police. Hm. Still, might have an idea. Whats the best way to reach out to you?

    • Jon, I’m working on a story, and the police and military are very much background noise in it. Something like Calexit would have a lot of impacts on all aspects of society, but in California and elsewhere.

  4. Mr Curtis, I will read anything you write! An anthology on Calexit sounds great.

  5. I’ve got something I can tweak a little to fit. But first I have this other “small” project to knock out. I’ll send the story next month.

  6. Glad you posted a date. I’ll need time to run my submission by Security before release.
Out hiding in Gettysburg PA for the weekend. Should be re-enactors and Antifa both here. May be interesting.

  7. Governor of the state of California is Jerry Green at the time of your novel, and 90% of other pols have to have hispanic surnames, throw in a bit of the cartels and you have a winner!

  8. How long a piece are you looking for. I’m interested in doing something with this, but need to know the submission guidelines. E-mail me if you think that I could contribute.

  9. As others have said, I’m not a writer, but will contribute as I can.

  10. All- Thanks, LL, TxRed, Jon, check your email. Grog, you are more than welcome, shoot me an email and I’ll get back with you.

    Posted from my iPhone.

  11. Calexit anthology separate from Kratman’s? I’m interested. You already established a very different world, basically a worst case scenario with a weak and wimpy President. It’s depressing, but probably more true to life.

Without Cali’s liberals in Congress, they could pass a war Powers act much more easily. And the people will really miss the fresh fruits and veggies. Plus riots in the big prog cities of the east and middle if the gov tries to use force on Cali. CNN is definitely the enemy, and Russia and China both would love to meddle. Lots of potential stories here.

So, yeah, I’d love to see an anthology happen. It would be best if you established a timeline so all the stories would mesh, but even without, it would still be good to see different versions of events.

  12. Question…You’ve placed a lot of resources in WA and HI, both very liberal. Gonna be problems?

  13. Interesting indeed. I now find my mind wandering off into this corner from time to time. The what if’s are just about endless. What if—

Northern California suffered a devastating flood (Oroville Dam, anyone)? Then the water system fell into dis-repair and neglect, and two years later the San Joaquin Valley was back two it’s natural state of desert? Here is some history that got me started—

  14. Murph- Gopher it… 🙂

McChuck- Tom’s died on the vine, at least for now. We talked today, and I’m going to run with this one.

    Skip- Who knows??? 😀

    RHT- Do it!

  15. Verrry interrresssting.
    +1 for LL.
    Word count, submission guidelines?
We can through in the Hell’s Angles and the Mongols for variety.

  16. I wonder what happened to NAS Lemoore and the various vets and active duty people that live in the area. Plus the two schools that are on the base. I wonder how that worked out for moonbeam and the teachers union and the central school district in your story?
Wonderful story, liked it very much. Please, my we have some more?

  17. I’ve been away from the usual links for a few days (horrendous PC issues). I come back and see this! This is a whole pasture full of Holy Cows! Congrats!

I may beg for a seat on your author list, but need a few days to be sure I can. Got a sequel of my own in the works. A break from that may very well be good for my mental health.

  18. There are so many things rattling around my brain as far as a Calexit:
    • They are so attached to $$$ from the federal government, wouldn’t they be begging to return to the Union in 18 to 24 months?
    • What about the State of Jefferson people in the north of the State? They are not going to go along or even play nice with the rest of California.
    • They may try to create their own currency, but American Cash would still rule. My guess is that border would be fairly porous and black marketeers would be king.
    • I could see farms being appropriated which won’t go well with the State of Jefferson people, and it won’t be pretty. It will be bloody and go the way of Venezuela.
    • I just imagine that the brain drain out of CA would be devastating. Bye-bye infrastructure.
    • Would the Chinese offer assistance in order to gain a strategic foothold on the continent?

Just some stuff your story shook loose in me…
