Never Forget…

0937, September 11,  2001…

This picture, to me, epitomizes the Pentagon’s response…

184 lives were lost that day.

The benches face in opposite directions for a reason. If they face west, the bench memorializes those who were on AA Flt 77, if they face the East (Pentagon), that was where they were.

Three friends died that day. CAPT Larry Getzfred, Jack Punches, AW1 Joe Pycior. May they rest in peace, knowing we are continuing to fight the terrorists, and have not knuckled under to them.

  1. Sorry for your loss of some close people sir. I didn’t know anyone who was killed during that event.

Also remember that some brave folks died today 5 years ago in Benghazi (Wow – how the time flies !) Let hope we get some good news from Floridians today.

  2. Hey Old NFO;

We honor those that fought the good fight, I also know that in 2008 we elected a terrorist sympathizer. I am hopeful that the pendulum will swing back.

  3. Aw. So sorry you lost your friends. May they all rest in peace. That day is stuck in my head forever. Lest we forget.

  4. My Uncle Gary was in the Pentagon that day. Pop left the following day for Hurlburt.

  5. I’m still very angry about 9/11. As Bob writes above, after the attack, we elected Barack Hussein Obama – twice. Is this nation insane? I realize that we’ve tried to set things right and bring the situation back to “normal” now, but, there’s a lot of insanity (like the flu) circulating when it comes to tolerance for terrorists.

  6. Anon- Good point, and truly sad…

    Bob-It is…

    Fargo- Thanks

SPE- Yep, I had other friends who made it…

Mr.P- I’m truly sorry you’ve bought into the conspiracy theorists… They continue to deny the reality of what occurred that day.

LL- That there is… But I ‘think’ the ‘vaccination’ is out there!

  7. My condolences on the loss of your friends, NFO.

9-11 is one of those defining moments in our lives, where you know where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news.

  8. Sorry for your loss. It was a terrible day, and the days, weeks, and months after were not any easier.
Just think, there’s kids in high school who were born after this event, who do not understand the impact of these – impacts. Same as the kids born after Desert Shield/Storm. We must teach them of the events, the lead-up to them, and why things are the way they are now. And not what the “history books” tell them, either…

  9. My anger is now buried so deep it will never leave. The flight schools sounded the warning, the FBI locals passed it on, and the complacent bastards running things shrugged. Why is it ever so?

Going back, Pearl Harbor. OK, surprise. But December 8th in the Philippines?

We just never seem to learn.

  10. Ditto WSF comments above.
We seem to WANT to be punished, then stage a “come from behind” recovery.
I’m sure there were acquaintances I had rubbed elbows with during my career that gave it all that day, but I lost no close friends.
Still, they were our BROTHERS and SISTERS.
And I will be pissed ’til the day I die.

  11. That Flag hung on the Pentagon now hangs in The Smithsonian Museum of American History. Hangs in the space where the Ft. McHenry flag use to hang.
The McHenry flag is now in a climate and light controlled space.

  12. I Just read your 9/11 blog post, I was surprised to see a familiar name mentioned. Capt. Jack Punces was my uncle. Wow, what a small world we live in! Thank you for honoring his memory.
