Happy New Year!!! — 24 Comments

  1. It was 9 degrees here when I went to feed the horses this morning. They looked at me like it was MY fault the water tank was frozen!

  2. Minus 14 typing right now, supposed to reach 1 above sometime this afternoon here in Minnesnowta….

  3. 7 above here this morning and the high is supposed to hit 12 today. And we are STILL getting lake effect snow. Here’s hoping this cold weather freezes the lake over soon!

Gotta get my butt in gear and go see patients. Am hoping the rush is about over, at least for a week or so. It’s been crazy busy for the past three weeks. I’m hoping for 2-3 days of no work, and no family holiday functions to be at so I can play with my Christmas presents! 🙂

Happy New Year Old NFO and other readers.

And PS: wash hands to try and avoid the flu. Sounds like it’s spreading all over…

  4. Happy New Year, Old NFO! 8 degrees here. Looking forward to seeing you at LibertyCon. Is there an anticipated publish date for the next Grey Man?

  5. Suz, up here in Seattlistan area it’s moving around with persistence. Guess I’m lucky, it’s about 30 above this morning.

May the new year be prosperous and quiet for all of us that read here and at similar pages, although I won’t hold my breath.

  6. 9 here in Michigan with a promise of 10 and snow.
May God bless and protect our republic in the coming year. And may it bless Him.

  7. I took the dogs out this morning before checking the temp. 21*F and me in slippers, and light jacket. Cold is cold. The only difference is does it hurt or just cold. But I can take this better than the heat these days. All y’all out there have a healthy, safe and prosperous New Year.

  8. Below freezing here in South Texas, which doesn’t happen much. I grew up in Lubbock county… North Texas weather is surprising at times. Winter of 78-79 we didn’t get above 15 degrees for 2 weeks. Lost all our apricot trees and the pear as well. I don’t remember if that was the same year we had snow drifts over 10 feet tall but that happened within a year of the cold snap. I chopped water for the pigs, cows and horse morning and night. Hauled water in 5 gallon buckets for them from the wellhouse till they had their fill. Man, those were cold days. Only owned cowboy boots then, single pair of socks. I hated winter….

  9. 13 C (53 F) here in the UK and on that slightly gloating note, A Peaceful and Happy New Year to all of you over there.

  10. Cozy bed with an electric blanket is nice. Along the Front Range low teens and light snow with a promise of clearing and a few days with highs in the 40’s.

  11. It’s 17 here, with a forecast high of 30 today. Y’all seem to have stolen our cold weather. Please return it, no questions asked.

  12. All- Thanks for the comments, go enjoy the day (or stay in bed and warm, your choice)

    Posted from my iPhone.

  13. 39 degrees in the People’s Republic of Alachua County (Florida, home of those lame Gators) and that’s the high, drizzly rain, and it is forecast to drop somewhere around 20 by 6pm, which means lots of ice all over the road.

Still better than 1989, when it went from around 80 and rainy to 19 and still precipitating, in 5 hours.

    Happy New Year, Sir.

  14. It’s cold here in Columbus, OH. I wanted to go out today, but I think I’m staying in. Maybe catch up on my reading and some light housework.

Happy New Year to everyone reading this, and a special shout out to Old NFO, whose blog I enjoy.

  15. I got the taps running, even though the sun’s out – at least until the weather warms up!

Happy new year to you, to, and yeah, I’ll be writing all my dates wrong for a while!

  16. Andrew- In other words, y’all are freezing and breaking out the parkas! 🙂

    MJ- Sounds like a winner!

Wing- Considering that it’s up to all of 25, don’t blame you!

  17. Happy New Year!

It was right around ZERO this morning. Cold enough that our SoCal dog sticks her nose out, says “HELL NO!”, and comes back in until it warms a bit..

  18. Happy New year – we arose to 1 degree above zero, warmed to 12 today. Whole week looks like single digit starts and not going anywhere teh freezing mark for a high. Such is winter in SW Michigan. Oh, and more snow, we already have a foot plus on the flats and mounds where wind-blown. The West Highland weather hound manages all outdoor functions in 15 seconds flat then rockets back to the door, can’t say I blame her one bit.

  19. BP- Same you and yours!

    drjim- LOL, she’ll get over that… Hopefully…

Ed- Ouch! And agree with the doggie!
