I r larning tings…

Day 1 of Life, the Universe and Everything conference was a beehive of activity.  One thing is for damn sure…

I need to clone myself at least twice to make all the panels I wanted to hear. Roughly 75 different panels today, in 14 different tracks… Sigh…

I ‘only’ triple scheduled myself twice…

I’ll say again it is truly worth the time and money to attend. It’s not a fan conference, but a conference for writers and associated craft types, with presentations by professionals in the fields. I am amazed at the depth and breadth of knowledge on some of the panels.

  1. Are there similar writer meetings in the US?

I think I have a rare ability to see all the various writing goofs that show up in the final form. I have no familiarity with the process used to correct a book before “printing”, but I suspect some writers may be willing to pay for this service, as most all of them need it (yours and Peter’s books are some of the best in this regard). I probably need to attend some of these get-togethers to learn more on the subject.

    • Can’t make the current meeting. That’s why I asked if there were similar ones later this year, as ltue is a once a year meet. Wish I could make it. Sounds perfect for what I have in mind.

      • LibertyCon might be close to what you are interested in, but it is not centered on professional writers like LTUE is. BuboniCon has a strong writers’ track, but also a lot of other things as well.

  2. I used to go to the annual diabetes educator conferences and there were always about 4x more workshops than was possible to physically attend. They would tape the workshops, and at the end of the conference I would go buy the tapes of the ones I wasn’t able to get to see in person. Then I would play them as I was driving around, or whenever was convenient. It usually took about a couple of weeks for the tapes to show up in the mail. It wasn’t cheap, usually cause I’d get a bunch, but it was way worth it, as I would learn lots more. And, over a longer space of time, as by the end of the conferences, my brain was mush as I had tried to cram sooo much in.

Don’t know if LTUE offers this, if so, you might consider it.
