Your tax dollars at work…

Exercise Valiant Shield, held every other year in the Philippine Sea. Just a ‘reminder’ to those who think they can easily overrun any US Forces in the 7th Fleet.

You can read about the exercise, HERE.

It’s also a place where ‘new’ technology can get tested in a ‘highly stressing’ environment. 🙂

And they get to shoot things too!!! 😀

In other news, North Platte, Nebraska has stepped up once again… Following the tradition the town set in WWII… HERE. Good on them!!!

  1. I’ve been through North Platte. Seemed like a nice place. Most Nebraskans I’ve encountered have been good folks.

  2. Philippine Sea…Philippine Sea…I seem to remember some other group that sought to challenge the U.S. Navy in that area…Oh yeah, the “Great Marinas Turkey Shoot” ca. 1944.

  3. Thank you, I am so sharing the N Platte article.
There are a lot of good people in this country, there always have been.

    • Yep, that is so true of just about all of ‘flyover’ country. And it is the core of who and what we really are as a Republic, something the east/west coast elites will NEVER understand.

  4. It’s a good thing when the U.S. Navy amasses its resources & conducts live fire exercises. Serves to reinforce its image both to the fleet itself, and to observers.

    Especially to observers.

    • Why did G-d make Kansas?

To keep Cornhuskers and Sooners from killing each other at the border.

  5. Smarter Half and I were in N. Platte Sept.
Stopped at the Golden Spike Tower (photos via e-mail).
One of the ladies at the gift shop told me the following:

When we got the call I pulled down Grandma’s recipe box. And I got her apron out of the cupboard. As I was baking I SWEAR I heard her voice say “Make it real good for The Boys.”

Needless to say we were both sniffling (Hell, I was sobbing!) when she finished.

  6. Can’t say I’m all that impressed by the photo. I remember a much larger and more professional force than has been recently demonstrated. The CVW of the 80’s was truly robust.
Saw the North Platte account some months/weeks ago; good folks, those deplorables.

  7. TXRed- Ouch… LOL

    Stretch- Yep, understood.

BG- True, but the kids out there today are doing what they can with the downsized force we’ve been left with after the last 8 years…
