Four Rules…

Not trying to jump the shark here, but the four rules DO apply to everyone…

Not just ‘civilians’…

Per the media 2 dead, 9 wounded in NYC in the Empire shooting this morning; article HERE.  Now a couple of points for consideration…

Colt .45 used by Perp, so max 8/9 rounds (without extended mag), puts 2 in his ex-boss, when killed one round still in mag; one spare mag (full) found in briefcase (according to police report).  So by “MY” math that means he fired either six or seven shots…

So two into the boss, that leaves either four or five rounds to shoot others… Unless he was firing magic bullets, that does NOT add up to 11 dead/wounded…

It calls into question how many rounds were fired by police, and what they hit…

  1. All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule. Its violation is directly responsible for about 60 percent of inadvertent discharges.
  4. Identify your target, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified.

I’m thinking there were at least ‘some’ Rule 4 violations by police in this incident…

Now what coach???  Oh yeah, and that whole gun free zone worked again…

Four Rules… — 17 Comments

  1. Rules? Cops don’t need no stinkin’ rules.

Drudge already has a line up on his page: BLOOMBERG: Some victims shot ‘accidentally’ by police…

  2. Exactly what I was thinking as I read the stories. I’d bet a paycheck most of the innocents were hit by police bullets.

8lb New York Lawyer triggers, the crappiest training in the nation, and possibly a complete disdain for the lives of innocent bystanders.

  3. The radio has reported that some of the dead and wounded came from cop guns. Talk about a fuck up! Do the cops not ever take gun and fire control classes?

  4. But that’s un-possible. Guns aren’t allowed in New York. And it’s un-possible that the police shot up all those people. The po-po only use special laser guided bullets that only hit bad guys.

  5. MUST be fiction. The whole thing. With no guns in New York City and highly trained law enforcement, it could not be otherwise. Could it?

  6. Bob- Sadly true…

    Carteach- Good point!

CP- Umm… Dunno… it IS NYC!

    WSF- Yeah, right!

Paw- Yep, it’s either that or he was firing those magic bullets…

    Bob- Sigh…

  7. Latest news I’ve seen as I write this is that the Perp put FOUR into his Victim, put the Gun Away, and then only drew it back out when the Police arrived. Plus, there was one in the Chamber, so that means by my count there could have been a MAXIMUM of 3 Bystanders shot.

Compare and Contrast that to the Guy who had the Shootout with TWO Perps down in Florida last month. ZERO Bystanders hurt.

So to the NYPD: “Good Shooting There, Tex!”

  8. Go to cover , go directly to cover.

If cover is not available, get behind the fattest person available.

NYPD has never been known for their marksmanship since the days of Jimmy Cirello.

    Gerry

  9. Les- Your update is probably more current than what I posted, which means even MORE shot by NYPD…

Gerry- Just one MORE reason why I don’t go there…

  10. THe current news I’ve heard

Bad guy put 3 in his ex co-worker…
put weapon away and walked off
confronted by cops .. drew weapon.. weapon jams.. cops shoot him and all the bystanders.

  11. I already heard about it again on the radio this morning.

Yep, most (if not all) of the bystanders were shot by responding police.

And of course they added the Doomberg sound byte “We have a National gun problem.”
Meh. Sounds to me like we have a New York cops can’t shoot straight problem.

  12. Even I know the four rules — you would hope that folks that get paid to carry would know them!

  13. Yep the cops did it…Your math is right on the mark (To bad the cops wasn’t 🙂

Hope all is well with you.
