This is from the Captain’s Journal…

On the other hand, because of political correctness, in the Spring of this year, US Army Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Dooley was condemned by the Joints Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and relieved of teaching duties at Joint Forces Staff College for teaching a course judged to be offensive to Islam.  The course he taught,Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism, was an elective course that Lt. Col. Dooley’s superiors judged as presenting Islam in a negative way. His superiors were persuaded to come to this conclusion after receiving an October 2011 letter in which 57 Muslim organizations claimed to be offended by the course.  The fact that Lt. Col. Dooley is a highly decorated combat veteran with  nearly 20 years of service under his belt apparently held little or no sway with the JCS.  As a matter of fact, JCS Chairman General Martin Dempsey “personally attacked” Lt. Col. Dooley on C-Span on May 10, 2012, during a Pentagon News Conference.

I’ve already blogged about this one, and it’s still ongoing with LTC Dooley…

Next, take note of the fact that females are now matriculating at infantry officer training at Quantico.  This is certainly in line with Andrew Exum’s counsel concerning his own branch of the service: “I see no compelling reason why women should not be allowed to attend Ranger School. As far as I am concerned, if a woman really wants to run around a sawdust pit at two in the morning screaming “Ranger!” while periodically stopping to low-crawl for 50 meters, we have a constitutional — nay God-given — responsibility to allow her to do so.”

And we’ve batted this one around too, but it’s STILL applicable…

h/t to Don

Now if we can just get a few folks to actually pay attention…

Just sayin…

And this one has been out there for a couple of years, but it’s still valid…

  1. Thanks for the read and the links.

If you read between the lines, and the comments, you find those that became old men in a few years. Besides the mental strain, the physical strain destroys young bodies and the damage is forever. When they’re my age, they’ll be damn near crippled and I doubt seriously they give a rodent’s fanny about being politically correct.

So, no disrespect to women, I don’t think it’s a good idea to sacrifice safety so some bureaucrat can feel good at night. Training women for combat is a waste of resources and dangerous.

  2. Dirty Mick described it pretty well. I a gurl wantsta lie on the ground and squeeze trigger, OK. But very few women can do the physical stuff the men have to do, and being part of the unit and not pulling their load puts extra strain on the men. Come on gurls…just stay in the office and file papers.

  3. Ya know, since I was about 12 or so, I have cherished the differenced between boys and girls. I really, in my heart of hearts, do not understand this constant drive for “sameness”.

Can we not, as a civilized society, and as members of the male half of the species, desire to keep the female half safe and out of harm’s way without some a$$hole hammering on us for being chauvinistic?!?!?!? Ya know what? They can just kiss my rosey red butt!!!!

As for the LtCol and his Islamic course – in the words of “Jack” . . . . “You can’t handle the truth!!!” I keep wondering what it will take for the west to truly wake up. Perhaps Iran’s bomb will do it . . . . .

  4. The Grrlz should go to Ranger training right after boot camp. It would save us millions in MOS training, payroll and benefits.

  5. Back in the early ’70s, we got the Nat’l Defense Ribbon simply for serving during a time of armed conflict – whether or not we actually saw any. Sounds like today’s military should all get Purple Hearts.

If women want to participate in combat, then God bless ’em & have at it. But to expect them to perform on equal footing with males is foolish in the extreme.

  6. I would have no problem whatsoever to having Women in the Combat Arms, provided that they got the same level of Training as the Red Army gave their Women during WW2. 750,000 did serve, remember? And how did those Female Snipers work out for them? And something about some Female Flyers called “Night Witches” by the Wehrmacht in Bi-Planes doing Ground Attack Missions springs to mind.

What I can’t STAND is the fact that they have to “Dumb Down” the Training Requirements to get our Ladies to fit the Billets. But I’ve been bitching about that from the first time I went to Sea with the Ladies back in ’79/80.

  7. Les,

The Soviet plan in WWII was screw the casualtiy rate and just wear down the Germans with numbers. They suffered almost 4 times the dead fighting on one front than the Germans did fighting on three.

I doubt WWII training by Soviets would pass muster with the current Russian armed forces

  8. When not just one female, but an appreciative statistical percentage can make it through the USAF’s IDOC ten-week school and then the eighteen MONTH pipeline (aka Superman School) without the AF reducing the standards or requirements, then I’ll reconsider my long, long held view of women in actual ground combat.

As far as the Muslim bullshit with our pussified Pentagon Joint Numbnuts of Staff?

The idea of the Muslims is to keep wearing us down. It’s now having the opposite effect on me.

Whereas I was open to a little tolerance and understanding so far as Muslims are concerned, the BS they keep pulling and pushing is having the OPPOSITE effect on me.

I am approaching a zero-tolerance mindset for all Muslims, for damn sure those in this country.

Anymore these days, whenever I run into one or see one/family out and about, I see crosshairs on them.

They have NOBODY to blame for my attitude but themselves.

  9. I say we assemble all the families who lost loved ones on 9-11-01 and from all the wars since them and have the CJCS explain to them why he feels this way. Sorry to drop an “F” Bomb, but “FU CJCS”!!!!!!

  10. PS to Old NFO,

I put your signed book in the mail a week or so ago.

  11. Jess/Ed/CP- Concur!

eia- Good point(s) on both items!!!

Suz- GOOD point! And yeah, it would thin the field to those that REALLY want to be there…

Rev- I don’t think so, and not there is NOT anyway to equalize probably would just end up getting more killed!

Les/Gerry- you’re both ‘partially’ right… but that’s yet another post!

    JD- CONCUR!!!

Senior- THAT I’d like to see!

    JD- THanks!

Mikey- Good one, thanks for the link!

  12. Benefits Of Sealed Lead Acid Batteries Because of the lower price, I wasn’t expecting much from these batteries. When looking to buy a new digital camera it may be helpful to choose one with a common, easily replaceable, battery model. Then repeat the charging process overnight. Looking around casually, we will discover that batteries are used almost everywhere – in trains, buses, mobile phones, cars, digital cameras, handy cams, offices, homes, and industries all over the world. The invention of rechargeable batteries has made it convenient for people to recharge their batteries several times instead of going in for new ones when they discharge.
