Sigh…

I would say this is an April Fool’s Day prank, but sadly it’s not…

The lefties will never give up… One  or more rounds for Camping World over their large flags!

The CEO of Camping World, a national RV dealer with stores in 200-plus locations, is facing a lawsuit by another city over its massive American flag that waves outside a dealership.

City leaders in Greenville, N.C., voted 4-2 last week to initiate legal action to take down the American flag at a Camping World dealership. The vote came amid another lawsuit filed by the city of Sevierville, Tennessee.

This is getting ridiculous! Camping World is flying BIG American flags because Marcus Lemonis is proud to be an American.

I really don’t understand ‘what’ the real problem is with these towns. It’s not like he’s flying some odd flag, although I sometimes wonder if they would be complaining if he was flying something like and LGBTQ+ flag…

I know here locally, both the Ford and GM dealers fly large flags over their dealerships, and have never (that I know of) had any complaints.

Sigh… — 12 Comments

  1. Same big U.S. flags flown here by car dealerships. Those large flags demand a LOT of extra care for constructing their flag poles but I’ve never seen one downed even in high winds (flags are normally taken down during that time).

I’m with you – what is wrong with supporting your country with pride in its flag ?

  2. They have a huge American flag flying here in Bowling Green, the original home of Camping World. It is much bigger than car dealerships versions. The city has two flags only slightly smaller on either side of the city welcoming you to town.

I doubt anyone has the balls to try and take them down around here.

  3. I live near Sevierville, and the mayor is a friend. No they wouldn’t allow GBGTQ or other oversized flags. The issue isn’t flying the flag, but it’s size.

The draw here is the Mountain views and they’re trying to keep those. If they allow camping World’s monster flag, they’d have to allow others, even LGBTQ flags, as the precedent would have been set.

  4. Camping World should tell them that if they can’t fly the flag, they won’t have a store there.

Way too many people use the excuse of how things look as a means to control others.
It’s the same with any ordinance that isn’t truly based on safety.

  5. I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, the flag size limitations in local code seem a bit intrusive. On the other, Camping World knows these types of regulations exist because they’ve been hit with fines at so many of their locations, and yet always go putting up flags larger than allowed – seemingly to generate nearly* free publicity from the media coverage of the city lawsuits.

    * less cost of flag and fines, and any legal fees, of course.

  6. It’s an AMERICAN FLAG. Who cares how large it is? I’d be more offended by a pocket handkerchief-sized flag flying from the top of a 200-foot flagpole.

  7. These are commie leftists in local office hiding behind a “code” to attack America. The NASTY reality is the VAST majority of local politicians are committed leftists. They can’t and won’t find useful jobs. They would much rather enter politics so they can use their positions to impose their agenda on all of us. Sticking a finger in their collective eyes by flying these flags is doing gods work.

  8. I live near the Greenville location. It’s not “lefties” that are opposed to the flag. There are flags and war memorials in the city park, at the courthouse, city hall, etc. This isn’t about patriotism, it’s about a big corporation using a giant flag as an advertising banner and then acting innocent about their intentions. It’s the most oversized, outrageous, excuse for a flag and it’s there to attract customers.

The base flag poles everywhere I was stationed were a third as tall and a garrison flag was less than half the size of this one.

Besides, they knew both the height of the flagpole and the flag exceeded city ordinances when it was put up. They didn’t seek an exception, they broke the law knowingly and then acted smug about it.

An 80 foot flagpole and a 20×38 foot garrison flag would have enough of a statement. I’d like to see the city tear up the road and block the entrance to the business until they resolve it.
