Terrorism…

Thoughts and prayers for the Marines who died in Chattanooga, and those who were injured.

Flag at half mastIt’s time to STOP making bases and other facilities ‘soft’ targets for shooters…

The only GOOD point is the SOB that shot them is dead! Too bad the CPD didn’t get him before he got there.

Semper Fi Marines!

There is a We the People petition now online HERE to get rid of the stupid directive put in place by Bill Clinton in 1992 that prevents the military from protecting themselves…

We petition an immediate and full revocation of Department of Defense Directive 5210.66 and all pursuant military service regulations restricting the rights of DoD / Military personnel in regards to firearms.

DoD Directive 5210.66 restricts all DoD personnel from exercising the right to bear arms while on a DoD installation unless it is expressly written into their job duties. This Directive (and pursuant service regulations) effectively prohibit service members from carrying a concealed firearm for self defense.

DoD Directive 5210.66 restricts our highly trained service members from access to their firearms when it is most needed. In its place a new directive should be authored allowing a “Shall Issue” concealed carry weapon permit system to be established for all DoD personnel.

  1. Sooo, isn’t it racism and discrimination to let Marines (and Army, Navy, and Air Force folks) carry guns (and rifles, artillery, and other shooty stuff) in Iraq and Afghanistan on their bases, (and anyplace else in the world) but not in TN or Texas or MI or any other state in the Union?
What is WRONG with this picture!!!
I’m thinking I need to learn how to shoot a handgun and get my CCW so I can help defend the Marines!
Seriously though, my sincere sympathy goes out to the family and loved ones of the 4 Marines who were killed today. May the injured heal quickly!

  2. Dude… it’s been past time for over 20 years!

Back in the day, I was CDO for a place with armed sailor security (giving sailors guns usually isn’t a good idea, at least with what passed for training 20-30 years ago). I was in charge of the guys with the guns (as well as a couple of power plants) but couldn’t have one myself. Assholes.
Nothing has changed and with the .gov and .mil in charge, it won’t. The remfs are more afraid of negligent discharges than they are stuff like what happened today. Service members below O-6 will never be treated as adults. Not even nuclear-trained ones.

The .mil is the Post Office with better-looking uniforms I’m glad I did it but I’d never go back.

  3. Suz- There is a petition now up…

Tom- I remember too… Shotgun quals for Shore Patrol!

  4. The Federal Government refuses to acknowledge that Islamic Terrorism is a problem. Until that changes, the trend will continue. All FedGov training is to fight middle class white, Christian terrorists…

  5. I remember being on Lejeune, with a gyrene on every intersection armed with a shotgun.
Someone had fragged a pickup in the motor pool.
    Nobody was happy.
Got challenged with a shotgun leaving the NCO club.
    Nobody got hurt.
    Safer than yesterday…

  6. Signed the petition. Will pass it along. Thanks for the link.

  7. Point of order–DoDD 5210.66 was signed under Bush the Elder’s watch NOT Billy Jeff Clinton’s.

  8. I’d sign the petition but I feel it would just be a waste of my time as Obama will ignore it.

Why can’t the base commanders order certain personnel to be armed on his base? Or, keep a weapons locker accessible to all on a moments notice? In the civilian world, we have staff on each floor who are designated fire wardens. They are trained in first aid and evacuation procedures. Seems to me that the military could do something similar regarding armed response.

  9. While I agree that His Imperial Majesty Barack Hussein Obama I will ignore this petition, I signed it and am spreading it around everywhere I can. If it gets enough traction, perhaps some congresscritters will notice and pass legislation, with enough votes that Boehner and McConnell can’t stop it, and to make it veto-proof.

  10. Signed, but the recruiters were in a citizen disarming zone and so would still be prey for the RIFs.

    • Agreed Dammit!

What about putting bullet-proof glass in the store fronts where the recruiters are working? The cost of bullet-proof glass is certainly much less then the cost of the loss of one military personnel’s life…at least in my book, and I’m betting the family members would feel the same.

I don’t have any question that nothing will happen on Obama’s watch unless he is absolutely forced into it. But, since he is someone who waves in the wind with the polls, I have no problem letting him and my congress critters know what my feelings are.

  11. Well, I think it is a dumb rule. It’s just as assinine as the courts excluding weapons on cops in the court room.

  12. LL- I know… dammit

Ed- Yep, that was back in the day.

    Suz- Thanks!

    Drifter- Thanks

    Tim- Thanks

    PE- They don’t have that latitude… Dammit…

    Drang/Dammit/Tweell/Suz- Thanks

    Gfa- Agreed!

    Rev- Thanks

Fargo- Yeah, stupidity… All in the name of political correctness… Until it all goes bad- Like yesterday!!!

  13. spot on..this horror is the last straw..for me as I am a first responder…how much more can we take!!!

  14. I signed! Most people don’t know or remember what a truly anti-American, military-hating fifth-columnist Clinton really was.

  15. The Sullivan family are members of my Mom’s church. This one hurts. Pray for the families.

  18. I bosted in on the blog… and on several other blogs…
    Including Insty.
    Twice.
Also Tweeted it, and USCCA picked that up. 🙂
Maybe we can get it on Drudge…

  19. 3,654 just now.

Of course, people gotta squabble about what are the chances, why don’t they just arm them openly, etc.
