CHiPs vs. USMC

Top this for a speeding ticket…

Two California Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15, North of the Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar. One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching the crest of a hill. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour. The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and then turned off. Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked on to a USMC F/A-18 Hornet, which was engaged in a low fly exercise near the location.

Back at the CHP Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the USMC Base Commander.

The reply came back in true USMC style:

“Thank you for your letter. We can now complete the file on this incident. “You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back toit, which is why it shut down. “Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment location. “Fortunately, the Marine Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position. “The pilot also suggests you cover your mouths when cussing at them, since the video systems on these jets are very high tech.

SergeantJohnson, the officer holding the radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar. It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster.

“Thank you for your concern. Semper Fi.”

For what it’s worth, it’s NOT far from the truth…

  1. Funny!

Had it been real, I would have asked why the anger? I would have been, “Cool!” But then again, it “is” San Fran.

    Good one!

  2. Hm, a new version ?

Normally this is told with two british cops doing traffic near Mildenhall, I believe, and a Tornado.

The last paragraph (Mouths open, holster, blah) is new.

  3. Doesnotmatter- Probably a variant… I had not heard the Tornado one, but I can believe it. I’ve seen those guys fly 🙂

I ‘do’ know of a real incident that fried a few radars back in the mid-80’s but it was an EA-6B out of NASNI.

  4. I was thinking what would an terrorist award read like?
Maybe this: Muqtada Al Sadr presents this award of a goat to Abdullah al Coward. For actions in the furtherance of terror and oppression in Al Anbar province Iraq.

On this date Abdullah drove a truck loaded with artillery shells into a market place crowded with men, women and children. When assured that it was the height of the morning shopping, right after prayers, Abdullah raised the hood of the truck feigning mechanical trouble. As the good people of the neighborhood crowded around offering assistance Abdullah slipped away and detonated the bomb from a safe distance.

The bomb instantly blew seventy five mostly men, women & children to bits. Two hundred other villagers suffered other injuries, many catastrophic such as amputations, blindness and burns. The real toll may never be known.

When the ambulance and fire department arrived he detonated a second device he left behind in the confusion, in a bag marked first aid. This bomb killed three doctors and two nurses who came to help the dead and dying.

Abdulla’s actions reflect great credit on the Mahadi Militia and are in keeping with the highest traditions of Islam.

  5. Love it CA- It’s have to be a female goat though… otherwise they’d be in trouble! 🙂
