Yea Us…

Virginia just lost a few more Brady points… 🙂

From NRA/ILA Alert-

SB 334, Senator Hanger’s restaurant ban repeal has PASSED the House UNCHANGED.

SB 408, Senator Vogel’s bill to allow non-CHP holders to have a loaded handgun in a locked container or compartment in their motor vehicle or boat PASSED UNCHANGED.

SB 3, Senator Smith’s bill to allow CHP holders to renew their permit through the mail passed UNCHANGED.

All these will go to the REPUBLICAN Governor of VA for signature next week, and go into effect in July I believe…

Also the oral arguments have been completed in McDonald and can be read HERE. Turk Turon has been lucky enough to actually be there, and has a number of posts up on his blog about the goings on!

I’ll make a prediction now- 5-4 in our favor with Scalia writing the opinion and Sotomayor writing the dissent…

And I’m stuck in Texas in meetings… sigh… sometimes Life just ain’t fair 🙁

  1. Well at least you’ll have more menu choices than Sushi. There used to be a Cattlemen’s Steakhouse on I-35 that had a wonderful prime rib, monstrous baked potato and a big salad bar.

They also had sawdust on the floor and lots of peanut shells near the bar.

Great place. Hope it’s still there.

  2. I don’t know if Austin has a Texas Road House Restaurant but that is pretty good too.

Perhaps you will find some time to enjoy a Texas indoor gun range that has rentals.

  3. ADM- I’m hoping for a job offer 🙂

Crucis- Sadly it appears to have closed…

S Phillips- I’d love to go shooting, but am otherwise occupied. Yes they have a Texas Roadhouse, but down here I get BBQ when I can 🙂

    CS- 🙂

    WSF- Here’s hoping!

  4. Steaks. I can talk about steaks.

Too bad you’re not in North Texas, NFO. There are good steakhouses all over Texas, but not so much so in Austin unless you go to one of the prime places and pay about 50-100 bucks.

Now if you were to get a chance to drive a little and venture out west to Llano, be sure to try Coopers. More a BBQ joint than steakhouse, but sure to offer an experience you’ll be talking about.

Crucis, if there is a Cattleman’s Steakhouse on I-35 anywhere between San Antonio and Denton, I don’t know where. The only one I know of anywhere nearby is in the Fort Worth Stockyards, and it isn’t one I really recommend.

S Phillips, Texas Roadhouse is referred to here as Texas Roadkill. None of the cookie-cutter joints, even Saltgrass, holds a candle to the likes of the Star Cafe down in the Stockyards… or the Gristmill in Grune… or the Lowake Steakhouse… or Zentner’s Daughter in San Angelo…

Lots of good steakhouses, just not many in the big cities. Those places seem to attract the cookie-cutters, and not much more.

  5. MB- Concur… Just got back from Coopers… FANTASTIC as usual! Took some folks over there, they were amazed!

  6. Mule: Thanks for the tip where to eat in San Angelo and agree about the Grapevine area.

I saw the news report on Seattle’s Starbucks. I didn’t know it was possible to open carry in Washington State.

  7. Fuzzy- I’m tryin…

    MB- Yeah, couldn’t find !@#&*&… sigh…

S Phillips- yep, THAT is getting interesting… Not just in Seattle either!
