Just to set the record straight…

I got into it with one of the Left Wing Loonies at work today… So I did a bit of open literature research…

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009 it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:

At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush’s Economic policies set a record of 52 straight months of JOB CREATION!

Remember the day…

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

THANK YOU DEMOCRATS for taking us from 12,600 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment… to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES! (BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 different time to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy).

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? (B. Frank and C. Dodd are thought to have received the most).

OBAMA

And who had fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?

OBAMA and the Democratic Congress

So when some one tries to blame Bush…

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007…. THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!” Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving.

When I went back and confronted her with these facts, she said I MADE THEM UP!!!

I mean I’ve seen some people that were hard over on their ‘beliefs’; but when presented with readily available FACTS they say they’re false? WTF???

And then she threw in the gratuitous comment that I must be racist, since I didn’t back Obama… sigh… At that point I just walked off, since there was NO reasoning with the woman…

And these people are going to get a rude awakening in November and then what are they going to say???

  1. I’m so.damned.sick of hearing anyone who doesn’t like Obama is racist. If you’re white & don’t like him, you’re racist. If you’re black & don’t like him, you’re a sellout to “your kind” (WTF does that mean? I thought we were *all* humans). I guess disliking Frank makes me anti-gay & dislike Pelosi makes me anti-female. It apparently sucks to be me, a closed-minded, God-loving, banjo-pickin’ hick.

    As to the LWL-
Honey, you could present them with a video confession straight from Obama saying “Dems, myself included, set out to do this, all on purpose. Bush wasn’t involved. WE made it happen” and they would find a way to twist it until it was racist, Bush-loving, black-hating, money hungry, power tripping whites that did it all.

  2. Facts are totally irrelevant to Liberals. Despite their collective disregard of religion they exhibit more faith in the unproven, unprovable and totally discredited than any Hindu mystic or medieval nun that ever lived.
Given this devotion to their faith (it can be called nothing else) your office mate’s reaction and name calling is not surprising. Just be glad she didn’t scream “Blasphemer!” and try to behead you.

  3. I have a few blown up pics of Barney, Not the dino, Chris DOOD, and The Nancy. I stick one or the other on a piece of 3/4 plywood, lean them up against a tree and empty a full clip into them every time I read something like this!! I only wish it were them standing there!

  4. All- Agree with each of your sentiments, but I’m just hoping and praying for a ‘change’ come November… sigh…

  5. Don’t worry about the ‘racism’ comment too much, Sir – my own mother accused me of being “influenced” by my husband, and being racist, when I told her I didn’t care for Øbama, in 2008 – as though, at 52 years of age, 6 years in the USMC, 6 years USNR, 9 years federal civil service, I’m too stupid to make my own determinations ……………………

  6. With my friend Snigs on this one.
My own mother told me after I retired that I had been brought up to be a “good” Democrat. At the time BJ Billy Jeff was in the WH. Told Mom, sorry, a career in real service to the Republic has made me a changed man.
Got no use for the current admin, nor did I for carter or clinton. Equal disgust on my part.
What about the usual pose of the CinC looking a whole lot like Benito Mussolini?

  7. Oh please, please, please may I Email this (with a link back to you) to my liberal friends (few) and relatives (more than I’d like)) just to see how they react? Snigglefrits is right: they don’t want the truth. They are also abysmally lacking in history, people skills, coping skills, and fact-finding skills. They’re blind, deaf, and how I wish they were mute! God help us.

  8. The liberals did what they always do when given the keys to the government. The problem is that the Republicans, the so called conservative also did what the liberals do when given the keys to the government. Which pissed a lot of people off in 2006 and 2008.

As a result a lot of well meaning, but naive people voted for Hopenchange and got some hope that they might be able to keep some change.

So, it appears that the voters will give the Republicans one more chance to take over. Only there’s a bit of a difference now. Arlen Spector is gone, not that he was much of a Republican. Bob Bennett from UT is gone, Linda Murkowski is likely to be gone, and so on.

The message they should be getting is that most of the voters want fiscal conservatives and social libertarians. We don’t care what people do in their private lives, but damned if we’re going to pay to subsidize it.

If the Republicans don’t remember that in January, things will turn over again in 2012.
