Six short sentences that say it all:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for…another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation!
6. Bottom line- The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are out-numbered by those who vote for a living.
This is, I believe, in a nutshell where we are today. The Congresscritters in DC just don’t get the fact that we the people are TIRED of working our asses off so that others may reap the fruits of our labor. President Unicorn wants us to call our Senators and Representatives; I did and told all four offices I was fed up, and to NOT pass anything that did not include a balanced budget, and I also told both offices if we can get term limits into a Constitutional Amendment I’m all for that too…

Agreed
Dead on sir.
Ever so true. Good for you, making the calls.
Spot on! Add to which the fact that theft is theft even when you have a majority in Congress.
I agree with every word.
Sad to say though congress believes in the adage, “You can sure as hell try, and something is better than nothing.”
My Rep. is Lloyd Doggett (D), sorry to say, I live in the most liberal city in the whole state of Texas. I’ve already told him I’m never going to vote for him, so not sure what calling him will do other than make me feel better.
Hmmm….. Yes I will be making that call.
🙂
Josh
Agree 100%
I gave up on these fools in Congress. One group wants to screw you, the other one wants to do the same, but promises to “Be Gentle.” I’m buying Ammo and Food, because we ain’t voting our way out this mess, and I’ll be Damned if I’m going to feed a bunch of Idiots who want to Redistribute My Food Wealth into their “Free Cheese” eating Mouths.
Oh, and my 7.62 Nato has arrived, so if I feed your Scar-Heavy, can I shoot it in N.H? Pretty Please, with Sugar on Top?
I promise to “Be Gentile.” ; )
When the public has the ability to vote themselves largesses from the public treasury, they will no longer vote for what is best as a whole, but what is best for them. I push for a restriction on voting, if you are getting assistance from the gov’t you cannot vote. Once you are back to being self sufficient, then you will vote for what is best for everybody, rather than voting to line your pockets.
All that being said, I fear that the tipping point is almost here and atlas will say “screw it” and shrug off the burden.
Why is it every time I find myself agreeing with your posts, I get more depressed?
Carteach0/ADM/WSF- Thanks
PH- Yep…
Christina/Joshkie/SS- Thanks!
Bubblehead- Good point and Sure! 🙂
MrG- Agree completely
Andy- Sorry.
From what I’m hearing that ‘call your Congressman’ thing kind of backfired. People did, but not on his side of things–everyone is tired of government growing and are equally as tired of his ‘tax the rich’ schtick because they’ve realized that it’s just a ploy and class warfare and we won’t be sucked in.
Don’t forget firing up the printing presses and making enough money for everybody.
Amen!
I wrote my letters on Monday! I say that the 50% who pay no federal tax start to give a little! Somehow I have failed. I have paid every year since I was 18.
Midwest- Yep, I’m hearing the same thing!
Chris- Good point!
Murph- Yeah, sigh…
Danny- Heard that… 46 years here…
The President was born to and was raised by socialists and neocommunists. It’s the only way he grew up thinking with the old ‘angry black man’ mindset where everyone owes him something because of the color of his skin. So he won’t support free enterprise under any conditions.
Congress simply hopes to buy votes with other people’s tax dollars by following Obama’s class envy mantra.
LL- Now that I think about it, I truly believe you are EXACTLY RIGHT!!! He’s never worked per se, never had to meet a budget, and really never had anyone tell him no…
Oh, I call my Congress people all right.
I call them SOBs, bastards, MFers and then I move to using some not-so-nice words to call them.
And they’re even Republicans. Imagine what I’d call them if they were Democrats?

Yeah right, I’ll just pick up the phone and call Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer, et al.
That should work well.
An interesting book if anyone’s interested is “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” by Dinesh D’Souza
