So New York can’t have a parade for the Military returning from Iraq/Afghanistan, but today…
They have a parade for the New York Giants, and call them ‘heroes’ for winning the Super Bowl???
And in the last 20 years, there have only been 10 parades, ALL for sports teams…
WTF???
Sounds like you still think New York City is part of the USA…
You’d think they’d at least have a parade for the local National Guard and Reserve units that have been called up.
I don’t think this really surprises anyone.
It’s New York. It’s not like the troops are returning to the United States of America or something.
Bring ’em to Atlanta. We’ll give ’em a good ol’ Georgia Welcome.
Phillip- I’m really beginning to doubt it…
DB- Agreed, but it looks like even THAT is a step too far…
Rev- Probably not.
BP- Yep, Southerners DO know how to do it in style! 🙂
The hero worship paid to all the ball handlers annoys me no end. Granted, no sport is easy, but then none of them remotely deserve the salaries, nor the hero worship.
And I second Borepatch’s sentiments!
NYC might as well be San Francisco. They suck. I did hear that St. Louis had a great parade though and am hoping it’ll catch on.
Messed up priorities there
Bloomberg is the mayor. ‘Nuff said.
Things would have been different back in Rudy’s day.
I had the same thought when I heard they were having a parade. Football is more important than people who volunteer to make the ultimate sacrifice.
There was a football game?
I’ll be damned. . .

Agree with all the comments above.
Has any city except St. Louis had a parade yet?
Sad.
Gerry
Are you surprised?
What Borepatch said!
They’re bad guys — they use guns. No parade. Just ask the mayor.
I heard that on the radio today. They have such messed up priorities up there.
Didn’t go to that parade, probably won’t go to the next one as well. Fat Bastard (our Gov) wanted to throw a parade when we got home from Bosnia. They asked us and we told them we just wanted to get home to our families. Mom, Brother and Sister in Law met me at Campbell with the other families when I got home from Iraq. That was good enough for me.
