Like everyone else, I’ve noted an increase in spam in the last few days/weeks…
Due to the weather last night, and lack of sleep, I got bored and started going back through the spam to see where it was hitting. Turns out ‘most’ of the spam was hitting about 6 posts…
Now I’ve been averaging 50-70 spams a day, most of them drug adds or words (but I never get the good ones like Tam does)…
NOooo… I get stuff like legal buy XXXX buy XXXX online with Visa
So I went in last night and edited those posts to display comments but not allow more comments. It’s cut my spam to less than 10 so far today!!!
The procedure, if anyone cares for Blogger is-
Select Edit for a post.
Select Options on the right under post settings.
Under Reader comments select Don’t allow, show existing.
Then hit Update at the top of the screen.
I ‘really’ don’t want to put captcha on, nor do I have the time to moderate comments, so I’m going to keep plugging along as I am, and just try to keep up with the major offenders.
In other spam news, I picked up three weeks worth of mail today, and it was a stack almost SIX inches high!!!
When I was done throwing out the spam, political crap and magazines I never ordered/order from, I had a total of 8 pieces of mail I actually wanted… Well, actually six, two were bills. sigh…
And if anybody out West sees my body clock wandering by, chivvy it this way please…

I was getting spam, but it didn’t make it to the blog, just my e-mail alerts. Stopped now.

I’ve been getting a lot of spam for NFL jerseys. Lycky for me the filters are handling. I also found that if you change settings on older posts so that comments must be approved it helps.
Been lucky in the Blobosphere-Spam arena so far . . . .
Email spam, Mmmmmm, not so much. I think I’m up to 20 or so email filters. Heavy sigh. My span seems to be age/gender specific though . . . .
And, I wonder if they talk to each other or to my doctor . . . .
